'Breathtaking violation of rights': L.A. city attorney barred from seeing detainees at LAX
The Los Angeles Times ^ | January 29th, 2017 | James Queally - Contact Reporter

Posted on 01/29/2017 6:26:24 PM PST by Mariner

Los Angeles City Atty. Mike Feuer said he spent several hours at Los Angeles International Airport on Saturday night into Sunday morning, but was repeatedly denied access to federal detainees or an attorney who could discuss the situation with him.

"My goals in going were to get information as to whether customs officials were complying with the federal order ... and to try and secure the release of the detainees," he said on Sunday morning.

Feuer said he was concerned that federal officials were not complying with an emergency stay granted by a federal judge on Saturday night that was meant to block detainees from being deported under President Trump's executive order.

While he was at the airport, Feuer said he was approached by a woman who claimed her father, suffering from Parkinson's disease, was among the detainees.

"It is those kind of real stories that are at stake because of this outrageous action by the feds," he said. "It is time not only for officials in my position, but all Americans, should find this a breathtaking violation of rights.”

How does one become a City Attorney with such breathtaking ignorance of the law?

Immigration is a matter limited to purview of POTUS and Congress, exclusively. The Judiciary has no "jurisdiction".

There is no habeas corpus in immigration law nor the underpinning Constitution. They are not entitled to a hearing, nor equal protection, nor any other element of the Bill of Rights.

Dang right! If you are an American you get those benedits of the Constitution. If not, tough luck, apply for citizenship and try to make American citizenship and America a place of something special again. If just anybody gets in its not coveted anymore as special.

Don't tell me. He went "home" to visit his dying grandmother. Sob stories are flying left and right. Typical commie lib tactic. Sob stories.

Ever heard the term..."film at 11"? Well, now it's video at 11. He's just pandering to the base. The idiots in lala land are clueless about the law. All they'll see is this guy at the airport trying to stop the Evil Trump EO. I'm sure there were plenty of news organizations covering this. LA FReepers can probably confirm.

They’re not US citizens.

They have no direct rights under our Constitution.

Yeah, I can imagine this scene at the airport:

“Excuse me sir, I’m an attorney, can you let me into your secured area so I can speak w/detainees?”

“No, none of the detainees have contacted me in order to secure counsel.”

Blank stare...

So not only are they turning away folks from certain countries, they are also turning away ambulance chasers.

I always detested this particular flavor of fake news. Pure propaganda.
