WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House vowed on Sunday to fight the news media "tooth and nail" over what it sees as unfair attacks, with a top adviser saying the Trump administration had presented "alternative facts" to counter low inauguration crowd estimates.
On his first full day as president, Trump said he had a "running war" with the media and accused journalists of underestimating the number of people who turned out Friday for his swearing-in.
White House officials made clear no truce was on the horizon on Sunday in television interviews that set a much harsher tone in the traditionally adversarial relationship between the White House and the press corps.
"The point is not the crowd size. The point is the attacks and the attempt to delegitimize this president in one day. And we're not going to sit around and take it," Chief of Staff Reince Priebus said on "Fox News Sunday."

I hope Trump gets Obamacare repealed quickly. I need to go to the doctor as soon as possible because my face is hurting from smiling too much!
This approach should first include the decertification of the likes of Andrea Mitchell and all the other has-been Democrat liars. Organizations like CNN and MSNBC and probably a lot of others need to be decertified completely.
They aren’t journalists; they are inside-the-wire sappers.

The MSM have demonstrated they are perfectly capable of supporting the integrity and effectiveness of the presidency. They have supported the Obama presidency with astounding duplicity, even to the point of spiking countless stories of corruption and fraud.
They now seek to turn on a dime and become the enemy of the presidency. Fine. They had better have their ducks in a row or they will get slaughtered.
So far they have been wrong on every detail of their negative reporting about Trump’s presidency. They will be held to account for their unfair practices. It will cost them, bigly.
One of the high points on a daily basis will be watching the daily press release.
Do they really think they have any chance of winning?

And they STILL cannot figure out how Trump just knocked them off-game. Not a word about his ‘extremist’ cabinet. The Dems (and some leftist Republicans) are left to explain why they’re not being obstructionist if they vote against his picks.
It was BRILLIANT, and nothing new for this bunch.
IMO, there’s been a war with the media and their alternative facts since the 60’s. My recollection is Nixon tried somewhat to fight it, and VP Agnew got blasted for it. Ever since it’s been a pretty much no contest war.
What worsened this war is when the Republicans went all limp during the obama years, did zero pushback and totally feared the MSM.
And now, praise the Lord, we have Trump. He’s standing up to them, all of them. It’s such a good feeling.
Good. This was Bush’s downfall.
During Dan Rather's time, the news media at least pretended to be "objective." But now they do not even pretend with their demented coverage of the President of the Untied States, Donald J. Trump.
We would love to see responsible, accurate journalism in which case the media reports and we decide.
This is in contrast to today's press telling us their twisted and biased version of events, plus what we are to think about their writings.
Examples of responsible journalism abound with conservative talk radio hosts. They provide both sides of an issue for you to consider, then they give us their opinion. They do not hide the fact that they have a conservative bias.
He needs to take some antitrust shots at Comcast and Jeff Bezos.
