WikiLeaks slams Trump for refusing to release tax return and urges people to send them 'so we can'

WikiLeaks slammed President Donald Trump on Sunday (22 January) for refusing to release his tax returns and has called on people to submit them so they can post them online. The whistle-blowing outfit's request came via Twitter after Trump's senior adviser Kellyanne Conway told ABC's This Week With George Stephanopoulos that the president would not be releasing them contrary to his pledge to do so during the campaign season.

"The White House response is that he's not going to release his tax returns," Conway said. "We litigated this all through the election. People didn't care. They voted for him, and let me make this very clear — most Americans ... are very focused on what their tax returns will look like while President Trump is in office, not what his look like."

Constantly hounding President Trump over this issue accomplishes nothing, except to make me wonder about the motives of those demanding to see his tax returns.

Yes, and the constant media rectal exams are a major reason why it is so difficult to get quality people to go into public service. Instead, we get people like Obama, McCain, etc., who are not qualified to do anything productive in the real world.

I care but do not want to see them. If they are released I won’t look.

He should release his tax returns the very minute Charlie Rangel pays his tax bill. Also, when everything Obama has paid big bucks to remain secret is disclosed.

A persons tax returns are none of our business.

This only started several elections back and is a creation of the left.

But listen to so called or self called conservatives take the lefts position.

Well, we struggled through 8 years of Obama and never saw any high college exam records, no idea what stamps were in his passport, and not sure about the sexual preferences of either he or she. Not sure where he was born...for REAL sure, and not sure how he got a social security card from Connecticut.

“... about him doing what he says he’s going to do...”

assuming you mean all the other things he’s stated, which he’s off to a good start on.

Otherwise, i think you’d agree - comparison to the Clintons on this is about as deep as the skin on my teeth. The Clintons are so sleazy that it was almost an imperative to see all their financial steps. tax returns from a powerful leftist couple with key influence/positions in most powerful nation on earth were clearly a must-have.

The JG

The IRS audited him often - he came out the other side in one piece - what else is there to know?

Tell me why the public has a right to your, or my , or Trump’s tax returns. Why?

His business concerns are his business. I don’t need to know how much he earned and how much he was able to keep.

MSM made W’s service records, grades and transcripts a big issue while hiding and protecting Obama. Just another attempted hit job by the drive-by media.

there's no reason to continue the misguided and un-American practice.

This is the precise point. If the President's tax return is up for anyone to look at then so is mine. And the loudest clamor comes from the so-called media who demand the "right" to continue vetting Trump for us. I don't know about you but I didn't elect them to run anything. A free press and all that - but that isn't what those folks are.

But we wouldn’t see those details because you don’t submit proof except in an audit.

Things may be different now as the power relationships have changed now that candidate Trump is now President Trump.

Here is the new rule.

Give. The. MSM. Nothing.

This is nothing more than a power-play by the MSM. Ask for a tax return. Then last year's tax return. Then his children's tax returns. One demand followed by another from the MSM.

By flat out saying "no", Trump is alpha-dog signaling the MSM is not in charge, he is. They can whine all they want. What are they going to do? Report negatively on him? Oh, wait, they already have gone psychotic over every little thing from his height on a driver's license, a misspelled tweet, or having the audacity to go to dinner without telling them.

The old MSM game is over and alpha-dog Trump is marking his territory by taking a well-deserved whiz on the press.

Ideally, the IRS should be abolished and the records returned to individual taxpayers. The IRS copies should be destroyed to ensure that the organization never returns to terrorize the citizenry. There are better ways to collect taxes.

Precisely. Trump released a full and thorough report of his businesses. Were he to release his tax returns his businesses would be destroyed by his business enemies. they would have in hand every detail of his confidential business practices. This is precisely why tax returns are protected by federal law.
Additionally, were the MSM to get hold of Trump’s tax returns (a stack of paper 3 feet high) they would celebrate with a HUUGH party. Their ability to shred the most minute detail of his business and personal dealings would be fair game for years. Every day would carry screaming headlines about Trump’s illicit dealings. (yes, even worse than now)

This silly tradition of presidential candidates releasing their tax returns began with Ford. And it ended with Trump. Good riddiance.

ACTUALLY, Ford did NOT release his TAX RETURN.

What he released was a SUMMARY, which is something TRUMP did as well. But the MSM won't tell you that.

ALSO note the following CAVEAT:

"Presidents release tax returns only for years they serve in office and only while they still hold that office. Consequently, Jimmy Carter did not release a return for 1980 nor did Ronald Reagan release one for 1988 — each left office before returns were due. Likewise incoming presidents do not release returns for the year before they assumed office, even though they hold office when returns for that year come due. "

Another FACT the MSM won't mention.

At some point a Leftist weasel within the bowels of the IRS IS going to release Trump’s tax returns.

I just hope he is prepared to deal with it. And that there’s no “there” there.
