Donald Trump Will Not Release Tax Returns, White House Adviser Says
NBC News ^ | 2017-01-22 | Alexandra Jaffe

Kellyanne Conway, counselor to President Donald Trump, said Sunday that the president would not be releasing his tax returns, reversing months of repeated campaign-trail promises to do so after an audit is completed.

Conway's comments came in response to a Whitehouse.gov petition with more than 200,000 signatures calling on Trump to release his tax returns. Any petition on the site that receives 100,000 signatures in 30 days receives a response from the White House; this petition reached twice that in two days.

"The White House response is that he's not going to release his tax returns," Conway said in an interview on ABC's "This Week."

Trump broke with decades of precedent during the campaign by becoming the first major party nominee since the 1970s to refuse to release his tax returns. He repeatedly cited an ongoing IRS audit in refusing to do so but said he would eventually release them when the audit was completed.

But Trump and his allies have argued that his tax returns are irrelevant, a statement Conway made again on Sunday.

"We litigated this all through the election. People didn't care," she said.

"They voted for him, and let me make this very clear: Most Americans are very focused on what their tax returns will look like while President Trump is in office, not what his look like. And you know full well that President Trump and his family are complying with all the ethical rules, everything they need to do to step away from his businesses and be a full-time president."

The only reason the presstitutes want them is so they can attack Trump’s customers and vendors.

That decade of precedence was none of it required by the Constitution or by laws duly passed by Congress or even by the DC city council or bylaws if the Ladies’ Club.

The enemedia will cherry pick whatever they want to use against him. I don’t blame him for not releasing his return. It’s not a legal requirement.

Is the audit complete? If not, then he should not release them and he is not breaking any campaign promises.

A wise choice in my view, the enemedia would have a field day slurring him even though I’m sure his host of lawyers and CPA’s have done everything legally.

Following up on the precedent of Barack not to release his college records, or his medical records, or Bill Clinton not to release his medical records....

You’re right EPU. They just want a way to attack him at a perceived vulnerability.

Excellent point. Didn’t think of that.

Did Hillary ever release transcripts of her paid speeches? Didn't think so.

I recall this being part of the deal as well.

It never occurs to anti-Trump morons that THE IRS HAS TRUMP’S TAX RETURNS.

They moan and whine that if he doesn’t “release” his tax returns, he must be concealing something incriminating.

Kellyanne should say that Mr. Trump has chosen to relase his tax returns to the IRS instead of CNN.

The presstitutes are the only ones wanting this information. I would never give them anything that they want, ever.

They want to work in the White House and have access - instead, kick them out. They want to ask questions at press conferences, instead invite other new media, UK media, etc and never call on the presstitutes not even once. Rinse and repeat every time presstitutes want something.

The Constitution doesn’t require he release his taxes. However, it does require a POTUS to be a NBC. We’ve yet to get verification on the ex-Terrorist in Chief’s eligibility.

Obama’s IRS had them for years! If there was anything wrong with them, it would have been top of the page news!

Donald Trump's tax returns are probably 10,000 pages long and that is no exaggeration. The idiots in the press, the democrat party (I repeat myself) and even most CPA’s would be unable to properly understand or read them. Trump himself has NO PART in his tax filing beyond employing CPA’s and Tax Attorneys to lower his tax exposure and make sure he doesn't go to jail.

The fact that he is under constant audit because of the complexity of the tax code is one of the many reasons he is the president.

The fact that my wife and I have literally pages and pages of taxes, More than twenty, and thousands of record in order to comply with the tax regulations is ridiculous. We don't even make any money. Imagine the complexity of Mr. Trump's taxes
