Students at Independence High School in Williamson County, Tennessee, will not be allowed to watch President-elect Donald Trumps inauguration during class on Friday.
Senior Olivia Roberts was so surprised by the ban she decided to write a Facebook post that has since gone viral:
To preface this, I am not one to post or debate anything political on Facebook but wanted to hear thoughts on this:
I go to public school and we are not allowed to watch the inauguration tomorrow...
Teachers are banned to show it.
Teachers are also not allowed to discuss anything about politics or religions which is understandable but this is a nationwide event in history that I think an a US citizen (whether you are happy about it or not) should be watched to honor and support the president of The United States of America (no matter who it is) And pay respect to the country we are privileged to live in. We watched the last 2 presidential inaugurations in school.

Someone post the contact info for this government run school.
Thanks, I thought many Tennesseans are conservatives.
Looks like the schools need to hire some teachers and elect some administrators that are conservative.
“All these leftists call themselves educators...Pathetic.”
Truly pathetic, because they know that others know that they’re indoctrinators and not educators, yet they continue to deny that they’re indoctrinators.
(How do they get away with it? Who knows.)
IMHO
Tennessee voted for Trump/Pence! The children should be able to see the inaugural address!
Those parents need to pay attention and speak up!
Unfortunately, many of them may be myopic enough to agree with this censorship based on intolerance.
Others may be too intimidated and meek to offer any resistance. “Well, that’s what your teacher has decided to be the best thing for her class. So don’t you make no trouble.”
What kind of education can the parents of children in this school system expect. I would be yanking them out tomorrow.
I laugh at these idiots. Why, because in four years they can watch it again.
Bwaaaahaaa!

Conservatives need to establish their own Charter Schools and
Public Schools that openly promote conservative values. Such a Public School most likely would not, could never be ruled by any Teacher’s Union.
If the teacher has a subject other than civics or American history, I would WANT them to not show the inauguration. Stick with the subject at hand.
OK.. that’s ONE school.
Name another.
How many are there, all together?
Yeah, I know...That’s my home...
Read the article.
When one has cancer, the therapeutic possibilities are nasty: Cut it out (surgery), Burn it (radiation), Poison it (chemotherapy).
We have a societal cancer that is well established; it runs deep, throughout the educational and media-propaganda system. The human/political analogies to the above “cures” are very nasty, involving great upheaval. Let’s hope the body politic has greater healing powers.
Simple action take your kids out school to watch and let the school lose their Fed $’s for that student that day.
Proof the left is fascist.
Well, I guess the songs, “Mmm mmm mmm, Donald E Trump...”, are out.
I had so hoped to see children forced to genuflect to him.

Give us a phone number and let FReepers call the school and the district superintendent to let them know what we think of their forcible censorship.
I hope a lot of parents keep their kids out of school tomorrow in that school, and let them watch the inauguration at home. LOL, I know in NYC, with the imbecile sitting in the mayor's office, kids would merely tune into the inauguration on their ever-present and ever-used cell phones. But NYC kids have already, sadly, been bent left for the most part, and I firmly believe most would simply parrot the BLM garbage lines and refuse to even watch the inauguration.
