B-2 bombers kill nearly 100 ISIS terrorists in Libya

A pair of B-2 "stealth" bombers blasted two ISIS training camps in Libya on Wednesday evening, dropping 108 precision-guided bombs and sending jihadists scattering -- many of whom were then "cleaned up" by drone-launched hellfire missiles, U.S. defense officials told Fox News.

The assault killed an estimated 85 terrorists at the camps, which were about 30 miles southwest of the Libyan coastal city of Sirte.

President Obama authorized the action. Most of the terrorists targeted had escaped Sirte after extensive military actions there.

U.S. drones "cleaned up" the operation by launching hellfire missiles that killed a several of ISIS fighters trying to run to safety.

I thought the B-2 was named “Spirit,” not “Stealth?”

True, but they went after large formations. Cong were typically small units.

NVA operated in the South before 68...but Dan Rather and Uncle Walt didn’t want us to know that.

OK ... valid point both as to NVA vs VC and as to Big Media’s pathological dishonesty.

Still leaves the question of BG/B. Sometimes, you catch the bad guys with their pants down and really put a hurt on them ... sometimes not so much.

Color me skeptical.

Something happened. I suspect we won't miss any of the vaporized. It was probably done to insure the cabal continues to get its skim from the "friendly" elements of the Muslim brotherhood.

'Stealth' refers to the tech/type of aircraft. 'Spirit' refers to individual aircraft.

Stirring up a hornet’s nest the day before inauguration day??? If they retaliate tomorrow, it will be because Trump is being sworn into office, not because Obama dropped bombs on their buddies...

Well....it's a start in the right direction.

With proper guidance and ROE, I think the ratios could be reversed quite easily.

No?

I generally favor killing bad guys ... I have full confidence that the next President will give our troops (by land, air and sea) more favorable ROE for efficiently killing bad guys.

I always liked the 30mm chain gun from the AH-64 Apache better than bombs or missiles.

The first few 30mm rounds would usually miss and the terrs would run away, becoming exhausted very quickly. But the Apache gunner would then adjust fire and walk the rounds in on the terrs as they ran away in that exhausting desperation, screaming their useless prayers to Allah.

Then, as opposed to the effects of being hit by a bomb or hellfire, they would not die instantly, but would usually be hit by 30mm shrapnel and bleed out over a few minutes.

That way, as they died in insufferable pain, they knew Allah had failed them.

I liked that.

I am not opposing your view. I find it interesting that the Jug-Eared Kenyan is doing this on the last day of his presidency. I suspect that he is hoping that it somehow antagonizes the Russians and the Muzzies while dumping the problem onto Trump.

As far as I am concerned, they can bomb ‘em all and let God sort ‘em out. It is just pathetic that Obama could have done this years ago, but he doesn’t have the guts. It is like he has just thrown a rock at the police in a standoff and is now beat-feeting it away.

No, he doesn't.

Politics aside, I still wonder if this particular strike was any more or less effective than similar strikes in Viet Nam.

These B-2s, with their precision munitions, are completely different from the formations of B-52s with large numbers of iron bombs.

The ARC Light effects on the target area and locations quite a distance from target area were profound. Armored Cavalry units, pulled back from the target area, heard a low rumble and then noticed that their ACAVs were gently bouncing on their suspensions. In the target areas, the world ended. In one particular ARC Light, a NVA Regiment was reduced from full strength to three stumbling survivors, disoriented and completely deafened. Very few intact bodies were found.

In comparison, these B-2 strikes are surgical.

Hoping that B-52s are sent to wipe “Raqqa” off the map.

There are no innocents there.
