Trump Gores a Sacred Cow, and Liberals Lament
American Thinker ^ | January 18, 2017 | Daniel L. Mallock

Posted on 01/18/2017 5:22:18 AM PST by Kaslin

The great Broom of Time recently swept away another failed ideology and political movement.

On the 20th of January, the dustbin of history will slam shut on the Utopian American Progressive Left. Followers, leaders, and philosophers of this dangerous and failed global movement will not go quietly, however; ideas die hard, and ideologies, movements, and political theories do not simply disappear overnight.

Inauguration Day 2017 will mark perhaps the greatest political and cultural shift in American history as the Utopians of the Progressive Left kick and scream, wail and whine as they shuffle off into forced retirement and irrelevance. Perhaps not since Lincoln's trip to Washington in early 1861 to begin his first term has so much vitriol, so many official and unofficial attempts to derail and delegitimize the president-elect, been seen.

Many have commented on the astounding and disturbing reaction of those now out of political power in the United States. The gross irony of Mrs. Clinton's admonishments during the election that Mr. Trump must promise to accept the election results (her victory was assured, remember?) in light of her supporters' post-election unwillingness to do the same is lost on the majority of them.

That the reaction of the Utopian Progressive Left is based upon anger, resentment, hatred, intolerance, and pique rather than logic is not important to them; it is a point that remains always unaddressed. Every political "dirty trick" that seems obviously a sham is accepted at face value, and bitter attacks built upon these false accusations immediately begin. The dizzying speed of the reactions, the overwhelmingly standardized nature of the talking points and commonly invoked yet faulty arguments, suggests a uniformity of thought more typical of an ideological movement or cult than of reasoned, cogent advocacy for a political candidate within a democratic open society.

I’m still shocked the election wasn’t crooked enough to be stolen! :)

The Werewolves were a group formed in postwar Germany to preserve the “accomplishments” of the Nazi regime. They provided great precedent on how to deal with such organizations. Look it up.

This article concerns me a bit. It seems we are making the same mistake that the left did eight years ago in assuming that an electoral victory in the current cycle implies that our opposition is completely finished as a viable political force. Think about Trump’s victory for a moment. We seem to be treating it as an overwhelming victory. It was not. While ot was certainly a clear, decisive and legitimate win, it was in reality also a very close win. Three states, PA, MI, and WI, were all decided by less than 1% margins. It is not difficult to imagine that the Dems might be able to turn those states blue in 2020, especially if they nominate a candidate who isn’t a felon and isn’t horribly unlikable.

I am not trying to spread doom and gloom. I am trying to point out that now is not the time to sit back and rest on our laurels. We won this battle, but the political war with the left continues unabated. We need to keep up the fight, not retire from the battlefield believing that the war is won.

If I were a Democrat, I would look for a successful Silicon Valley executive who is either gay or lesbian, but looks mainstream enough, not like a wacky liberal loon.

The 1/17/16 NYP OP-ED piece by F.H. Buckley (George Mason U law prof) nails the near-fatal blow Trump delivered to Democrats/progressives.

EXCERPT--- Trump’s victory was a defeat of their conceit that a progressive was above politics (party machinery's their god), in possession of spotless truth, that the arc of history bent only their way, and for such people there’s no room for compromise and no space for politics.......the progressive thought he’d only muddy himself if he treated opponents with anything more than disdain.

That’s how President Obama conducted himself in office and that’s how many Democrats see Republicans, and that’s why they’re not emotionally able to accept their defeat.

Trump showed progressives that they were self-deceived, that they weren’t in sole possession of the right and the good......and that’s a deep psychic wound.

=============================================

Buckley's compelling insights..... "a progressive thinks he/she is in possession of spotless truth, that they’d only muddy themselves if they treated opponents with anything more than disdain"......

....precisely explains why Hillary actually thought she could get away w/ calling a huge swath of American voters "deplorable and "irredeemable"....and expected no repercussions.

Also explains Meryl Streep's outrageous comments.

The Lunatic Left will never give up - it's a mental disease, as witnessed these last couple of months.
The only way to rid our country of them is to really finish them off. Remember, they're not "protestors," they're anarchists, terrorists and marxists.

“One could say the same for Conservative Orthodoxy.”

If one didn’t mind lying one could say that.

It took me about three minutes to explain the invalidity of that line of argumentation to my 11-year-old.

Yes. Much safer to keep the proverbial boots and knuckles on. We can’t be at peace until we have utterly crushed the enemies of this country.
