NFL Support of Colin Kaepernick Tanked 2016 TV Ratings

A large share of fans responded to the NFL’s tacit endorsement of Colin Kaepernick’s anti-American message by refusing to tune-in to games, prompting a huge decline in TV ratings. Aside from his disrespect for the national anthem, the San Francisco 49ers quarterback also sparked outrage by donning socks embroidered with pigs wearing police uniforms.

Early in the season, ESPN and network broadcasts never missed an opportunity to spotlight Kaepernick and his followers taking a knee during the pre-game ritual. Fans, though, saw Kaepernick’s protest as thumbing his nose at America. As a result, regular season ratings for 2016 dropped 8% to 16.5 million viewers per game from the 17.9 million who watched games during the 2015 NFL campaign.

That’s why I want the Patriots to win the SB. Just to see how awkward Goodell is going to look when he has to hand the trophy to Brady and Belichick.

I haven’t watched a single game all season, and the only way I’ll watch the Superbowl is if Brady is in it.

Otherwise nope.

We need to make them feel it. How come this flag and this anthem has been good enough for black athletes dealing with REAL discrimination like Jesse Owens???? These guys are pussies.

we will not watch NFL at least until they correct this insulting behavior

insult the customers? customers take their patronage elsewhere!

to hell with NFL, who do they think they are to shove this krap in our faces? there are plenty of other entertainments and sports we can patronize, or do

{They took their lead from other broadcast venues who mistakenly believe that the liberal agenda carries the day with everyone but a few middle America bitter clingers.} I noticed years ago there was a decidedly liberal bent to the broadcasters and sports media in general, they seem way to the left of most sport fans.

70% of NFL players are black. The NFL and the owners are coddling them and are afraid to stand up to them and BLM.

Actually three of the four remaining teams have the largest national followings, next to the Cowboys: Steelers, Packers and Patriots.

the Cowboys: Steelers, Packers

The Cowboys are really big with the cattle ranchers, The Steelers are favorites of the inner city rioter/looter types, and the Packers....well, that goes without saying.

Isn’t Roethlisberger a rapist or something?

Yes!

Accused of not one but two sexual assaults.

I’m guessing games with the 49ers had the lowest ratings? It was a sense of poetic justice that they were 2-14 - and they deserve to lose their first round draft pick as well.

The NFL’s ratings took a knee...to the groin.

Thank you, patriotic Americans!!

You can add Stafford to the list. Over the holidays, he and his wife took gifts to the families of two slain police officers.

Same here. Did not watch a single game. However, the 8% drop is disappointing. I was hoping for bigger numbers.

Americans do not seem willing to disrupt their lives for principle. Unfortunately, they will probably wait until the noose is tight around their neck before they will react.
