The fact is about 15 million are on psychotropic drugs, not 1 in 3. I know, exaggeration for effect
****************
Certainly the 1 in 3 number is true over even a brief period of time ,, say 5-10 years ... Your “cure” would leave the majority of (currently) working people on SSI as they could never recover from the damage you want to impose. There simply aren’t enough car wash and gardener positions for your plan to work.

Florida’s Amendment 2 has some strict requirements for patients to gain access. (Seizure control and terminally ill.)
**********************
Tegritol (for seizures) has serious side effects ,, if MMJ or canabinoid oils can help I’m for it... I think the majority is just plain sick and tired of the fedgov lying in the classification of MJ in any form being a class 1 drug.

You mean everyone is smoking pot? Don’t think so. Maybe your friends all are, but not mine.

No, it is not. Wife runs behavioral health hospitals. I know for fact. It is a repeat customer base...mostly drug users.

“Cops not on anti anxiety meds?? “

Scary to think a cop needs such meds. If you can’t handle the job then get out. Scared children should be cops.

“Anyone on Prozac? Anyone on Ritalin? “

Very few need it, and no one needs Ritalin. No one. It is nothing but some lazy parent thinking their kid is “hyperactive” when the kid is just being a kid and they don’t want to be parents anymore. “Drug the little rugrat. I am tired of chasing him around.” Ritalin is just another means of abortion in that the parent wants to terminate their parental responsibilities.

“Ah, ya’ forgot to also demonize alcohol users in your screed.”

Screed? Thin skinned snowflake. If that was a screed then I’d love to see your meltdown when your boss tells you to show up to your pizza delivery job on time.

A law that was meant to protect the public, rather than to be used as a tool of oppression, would penalize reckless driving only and wouldn’t care if the reckless driver were high on every substance known to man, or stone cold sober.

There’s simply no way to open the “what’s in your bloodstream” can of worms without eventually having to include everyone, or be a screaming, tyranny-and-injustice-promoting hypocrite.

I want to see it FDA regulated by mg, body weight, daily need, and make it very illegal to put it into food that others eat. You may want it, many don’t. How do you know how it was grown, processed if it is not FDA regulated? How do you judge the dose for body weight?

With the DEA cutting narcotic production 25% this year and pain meds being restricted and having to go to pain management which are just another layer of useless doctors who don’t know squat about your disease and co-pays are $300 a month for a supervised Pee test.

The War on Drugs has become insane. This is not normal: http://stopthedrugwar.org/chronicle/2013/jan/22/pregnant_oklahoma_woman_see ks_me

You’re obviously over-invested in your point of view... and further discussions are pointless ... but I’ll leave this thread and just say that your thuggish penalties if implemented will lead to many people not seeking help for problems that can be alleviated with certain drugs or to a mass revolt... It’s just not going to work.

Unfortunately, marijuana confounds both sides. It definitely has psychotropic and hallucinogenic effects, so the whole “it’s not as bad as alcohol” argument eventually leads to screaming, tyranny-and-injustice-promoting hypocrites.

As to the WoD warriors, they’re no better. More unconstitional laws have been passed by “conservatives” who have no problem usurping the Constitution for their pet programs. Even the war on poverty pales in comparison.

I have no problem with medical marijuana, but until there is a reliable test for being high, I’m not for legalization. Sorry, I don’t want people in responsible positions high on anything. Waiting for an incident puts others at risk. Such illogical solutions are juvenile and dangerous, and typical of libertarian utopian idealism.

That’s why what has to be tested is behavior. Either the behavior is reckless or it isn’t. If it isn’t, it’s nobody’s business. If it is, it doesn’t matter if the person was high on anything or not.

Many of us take hemp-derived CBD oil — not really that expensive and virtually no THC involved. Really no need for MJ or its derivatives.

“thuggish penalties “

You mean like prosecuting someone for DUI when driving on pot?

Or maybe, like not letting airline pilots smoke pot??

Maybe I am a thug because a heavy machinery operator shouldn’t be DUI while operating??

You mean those “thuggish” views??

You better get going. It’s getting dark, so I am sure the pizza orders are coming in for you to deliver.

Calm down. I was just saying tongue-in-cheek (which you obviously didn't get in your rush to attack me) that you forgot to mention how alcohol is far more prevalent in our society as a mind-altering substance than pot is.

And I am no snowflake. I notice you went right for the name-calling first without even attempting to refute or agree with my point about the alcohol consumption in the US.

First, I live in Florida. No snow around here. It's too hot. Second, this is Trump territory. Don't know any snowflakes around this rural area at all. Besides, they would not last long around here. Three, I don't even eat pizza because I live in the country where there are no pizza places close by. Four, I am a 70 year old college graduate, retired military officer and I don't have a boss because in am retired. Fifth, my wife and I own a thirty acre farm that we raise beef cattle on. I do more work on the farm in the first couple of hours after sunrise, than you could keep up with for a whole day, cupcake.

So don't be so smug. You don't know it all yet kiddo...

The principle seems legitimate until you test it in real life. It’s too late once people lie dead in the street. Your inability or refusal to discern the inevitable consequences doesn’t advance your argument.

Humans are not logical and they’re worse when they’re high. Sorry to burst your libertarian bubble, but adults consider responsibilities beyond themselves.

“The principle seems legitimate until you test it in real life. It’s too late once people lie dead in the street.”

Come on, you should recognize that line of logic as the exact same one the left uses when they’re trying to ban guns.

Well, in this case, it turns out it was tested just fine in real life, right here in the USA, which somehow became the greatest country in the world without those totalitarian, nanny-state laws.
