Most of the MSM in general leans to the left of the ideological spectrum, but MSNBC was once proud to be the direct media arm of the Democrat Party itself. Now they have seem to have become mild
Of course, they still have their liberal media personalities on the air just like Sean Hannity is the conservative bulwark at FoxNews but even there they are not so agressive as their counterparts on CNN, who once was considered the moderate (slightly less outright liberal) network against a backdrop of so called 'divisive' media entities.
Now CNN has taken the mantel from MSNBC as the uber liberal network and has run with it starting this past election cycle. They were the most aggressive against Trump than any other network out there. I remember when CNN ran an instant factcheck on live Trump speeches for awhile but didn't do the same when Hillary spoke on live tv, for example. MSNBC coverage of election while still liberal wasn't so strident in my opinion
Is MSNBC learning there has to be balance no matter their personal opinions? Or that CNN is wilder and crazier than MSNBC had been at its zenith?

I think what seems like moderation is for real. You can see it on Morning Joe. He's been, let's say neutral, on Trump for a couple of weeks now. Neutral may be stretching it but he's far from the rabid anti-Trump raving you see on CNN.

Why do we need CNN to wither away? It is a good rathole for liberal money. CNN has not enough audience to be effective as a purveyor of information.
MSNBC finally realized news is a business, and decided to move closer to where most of America is on the spectrum instead of being the crazy leftest maniac of news.
msnbc may be milder now, but they will forever have lost the trust of the public- same thing is happening with CNN now- The NYT however will never understand why they are failing and always blame it on republicans somehow
Numbers in the past month show MSNBC as number two. CNN-US is sinking on profits. I gave them no more than two years before some Chinese billionaire buys them and moves half the operation to China.
Having watched a bit of MSNBC post election, I get this feeling that Scarborough is reeling them slowly to the right, aided by the fact that they were cold-cocked by Trumps victory and were stunned. Joe seemed to be the only one with any sense left at that point, and has managed to drag them, however slightly, back towards the middle.
Think they realize most folks don’t like them and CNN more so they are backing down(for now) and allowing CNN to take the hit.
Don’t be fooled they still suck and are saturated with mis-fits.
I watch both to see eg-zacly what the opposition is putting out there and it aint pretty.
Has the FAKE NEWS even affected their ratings? With airports, doctors offices, etc., I didn’t think they were feeling any pain.

Since Obama is no longer behind them to help them “lean forward” they are a lot more comfortable.
