A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Why the hell do we "need" a "permit" to exercise our right to bear arms?

Excellent.

This is one of the reasons why we needed to keep the Republicans in control of the Senate, RINOs and all. Imagine if Chuckie Schumer was now the Senate Majority Leader. None of Trump’s cabinet picks would get confirmed and no legislation rolling back Obamanation would ever make it to the floor for a vote.

The Republican Congresscritters now have one year to lead, follow or get out of the way. It will then be time to start picking RINOs to target in the 2018 primaries.

I like the idea in theory, but in practice I like the idea of federalism, where states can tell the feds to stuff it if they so choose. This is the exact opposite of that, and could be turned on us again someday, just like homosexual marriage was forced on all the states.

"well regulated" in 18th century speak means "well trained". Why is the federal government not mandating able bodied citizens 17-62, who are all in the militia, ordering us to the range and supplying the ammo and trainers?

You’re going to see a lot of NY/NJ folks establishing a PA residence, get their CCP, then carry as needed.

US_MilitaryRules :" Its right there next to the permits for the First Amendment!"

Exactly true !
The Second Amendment assures that the citizenry can assure First Amendment rights.
At what point did we authorize the need to get a permit to use any of our "God given.." rights ?

Even the Chicago Tribune had to admit that CCW had gone well. A couple of libs I know were despondent when blood didn’t run in the streets. I told them that if they wanted to find out what kind of war zone Illinois would become all they had to do was cross any of our boarders and they would be in CCW state and could experience it immediately. But you know how well logic works. We had a local network reporting every firearm crime as being committed by a “concealed firearm” trying to convince the steeple that legal CCW were committing them. A bunch of us called them on it and they quit.

How does that help residents of states in which only the “connected” are able to obtain a permit? There should be a corollary allowing states to issue permits to out-of-state gun owners, whose home states would then be required to honor those permits!

But since any licensing or permit requirement is a clear infringement anyway, it is only a step towards constitutional carry.

The law has a preemption element, so cities cannot opt-out.

How does Chicago figure into this? IIUC it is nearly impossible to get a permit there.

as long as the permit holder follows the laws of that state.

A loop hole for the gun grabbers big enough to drive a tanker through.

As I understand this law, states will still have the right to dictate magazine capacity and the types of rounds that can be loaded in them. As an example, in NY the mag capacity is 7 rounds? I also believe hollow points aren’t allowed in NJ.

Exactly. Makes the entire exercise almost useless.

Just about. If it's passed I'll carry my .38 snub.
