Two weeks ago I published an open letter here to a long-time, long-distance friend after I learned she had voted for Donald Trump. I stated that I realized I never really knew her, that I couldn’t fall back on the thought that she lived in the Rust Belt and experienced “economic anxiety” (she doesn’t, and surely isn’t) and that I’m just being honest when I say we can no longer be friends.
There was a lot of response on social media and elsewhere, most of it positive, much of it from people in far more difficult situations ― people who opposed Trump and were struggling with relationships they’ve had with parents, siblings, children or closer friends who voted for Trump. Many expressed how the letter articulated thoughts similar to their own, no matter how differently (or similarly) they may navigate this in their own lives.

Glad to see I’m not the only FReeper who caught this. And I will freely say I cut ties with a seriously hardcore Dumbocrat or two, but they were the kind who are driven truly insane by their ideology. That mantra is a VERY dangerous precedent if it becomes too embedded in how we live.
Posts like this are clear evidence that Today’s liberalism is a Religious Cult and not a political philosophy.
I for one will likely be disappointed that a more strict social path isn't taken, but I'll accept it if we build a wall, Obiecare, taxes, ISIS, globab warming etc.

I will generally stop by the comments section of most of the original sources of these stories just to humor myself, but the Huffington Post comment section is not even fun. They are absolutely deranged. All they do is tell each other how rotten and hateful all of the Trump people that they know are, and how their own family members turned out to be racist hate filled bigots, and that they will never ever forgive them for the destruction they are bringing to this once great nation. I have never seen anything like this in my life. I mean it is so bad I can’t even find joy in their lamentations. And that is bad.
Time to grow the hell up, punk.

I have neighbors who are left-wing moonbats and unionistas apparently, but we are polite neighborly friends with them. When Obummer got into office, I did not go on a tirade and formally UNfriend them. Will these libtards just grow up please?

My little sister, a long-time leftie and Bernie supporter, had an epiphany when Wikileaks exposed the illegal and immoral activities of the Clinton Left.
When she happened to mention this in a very tentative manner on her Facebook page, she was immediately “unfriended” by friends and relatives with whom she had been friends for years.

She voted for Trump enthusiastically, and loves the articles I send her.
It really should be legal to identify political affiliation as a job requirement.
