I'm a New Yorker, and proud of it.

I'm an American, and even prouder of that.

I started lurking here right around the time of the Florida fiasco. I'd heard that this was a good source for articles, but it didn't take me long to realize that there was a lot more going on here! When I read the accounts of the FReeps that took place outside the Vice Presidential mansion, with all the FReepers chanting, "Get out of Dick Cheney's house!", I felt for the first time in a long time that things were going to turn out all right. Eight years of You-Know-Who and Mrs. You-Know-Who had caused me to become very cynical and apathetic. I thought that most people were brain-dead, mindless sheep. But when I saw what the FReepers were doing, I started to feel some hope.
