Complete Headline: Mormons launch petition trying to stop the Tabernacle Choir singing at Donald Trump's inauguration as one member resigns rather than perform at the ceremony

Mormons are urging a choir who are set to sing at Donald Trump's presidential inauguration to refuse to perform at the event with one of the singers even resigning in protest.

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir are one of a few acts to confirm they will sing at Trump's swearing-in ceremony later next month.

The group has already performed at the inaugurations of George Bush, George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan and added they were honoured to be picked to perform.

But now it has emerged, a petition has been set up by fellow Mormons requesting that the choir do not perform at the ceremony and one choir member has resigned in a refusal to perform.

It comes after Trump had trouble during the Republican primary campaign winning over Mormon voters, who voiced skepticism about his candidacy.

A religion that kept out black folks and practices bigamy is in no position to throw stones.

That said, the Tabernacle Choir is wonderful. Too bad. Bigots!

Being a “very fine person” will not do them any good at the White Throne of Judgement.

It WON'T???

Well; then what WILL??

What Joseph Smith Means to Us  (From: various sources )

"He (Joseph Smith) is the man through whom God has spoken... yet I would not like to call him a savior, though in a certain capacity he was a god to us, and is to the nations of the earth, and will continue to be."
- Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 8:321

"You call us fools; but the day will be, gentlemen and ladies, whether you belong to this Church or not, when you will prize brother Joseph Smith as the Prophet of the Living God, and look upon him as a god..."
- Herber C. Kimball, Journal of Discourses 5:88

"If we get our salvation, we shall have to pass by him [Joseph Smith]; if we enter our glory, it will be through the authority he has received. We cannot get around him [Joseph Smith]"
- (as quoted in 1988 Melchizedek Priesthood Study Guide, p. 142)
There is "no salvation without accepting Joseph Smith. If Joseph Smith was verily a prophet, and if he told the truth...no man can reject that testimony without incurring the most dreadful consequences, for he cannot enter the kingdom of God"
- Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 1, p.190

"I tell you, Joseph holds the keys, and none of us can get into the celestial kingdom without passing by him. We have not got rid of him, but he stands there as the sentinel, holding the keys of the kingdom of God; and there are many of them beside him. I tell you, if we get past those who have mingled with us, and know us best, and have a right to know us best, probably we can pass all other sentinels as far as it is necessary, or as far as we may desire. But I tell you, the pinch will be with those that have mingled with us, stood next to us, weighed our spirits, tried us, and proven us: there will be a pinch, in my view, to get past them. The others, perhaps, will say, If brother Joseph is satisfied with you, you may pass. If it is all right with him, it is all right with me. Then if Joseph shall say to a man, or if brother Brigham say to a man, I forgive you your sins, "Whosoever sins ye remit they are remitted unto them;" if you who have suffered and felt the weight of transgression—if you have generosity enough to forgive the sinner, I will forgive him: you cannot have more generosity than I have. I have given you power to forgive sins, and when the Lord gives a gift, he does not take it back again."
- Orson Hyde, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 6, p.154-155

"It is because the Lord called Joseph Smith that salvation is again available to mortal men.... If it had not been for Joseph Smith and the restoration, there would be no salvation,"
- Bruce McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, p. 396, 670

They succeeded in killing Joseph, but he had finished his work.
He was a servant of God, and gave us the Book of Mormon.
He said the Bible was right in the main, but, through the translators and others, many precious portions were suppressed, and several other portions were wrongly translated; and now his testimony is in force, for he has sealed it with his blood.
As I have frequently told them, no man in this dispensation will enter the courts of heaven, without the approbation of the Prophet Joseph Smith, Jun.
Who has made this so?
Have I?
Have this people?
Have the world?
No; but the Lord Jehovah has decreed it.
If I ever pass into the heavenly courts, it will be by the consent of the Prophet Joseph.
If you ever pass through the gates into the Holy City, you will do so upon his certificate that you are worthy to pass.
Can you pass without his inspection?
No; neither can any person in this dispensation, which is the dispensation of the fulness of times.
In this generation, and in all the generations that are to come, everyone will have to undergo the scrutiny of this Prophet.
They say that they killed Joseph, and they will yet come with their hats under their arms and bend to him; but what good will it do them, unless they repent?
They can come in a certain way and find favor, but will they?
Brigham Young,

--JOURNAL OF DISCOURSES, vol. 8, p. 224

Trump got 61% of Mormon vote nationally. Hillary but 25%. Contrast that with the Jewish-American vote which went the total opposite. Hilary snaring 70%.

Every religion has a handful of dumb@$$es including Mormons.

Hate to disappoint the Mormon haters which inflict this forum, but the choir is STILL singing.

Link to announcement from official church news site.

FWIW, Trump carried every county in Utah except two: Salt Lake County, where Hillary managed to crack 41% and Summit County, where she managed to crack 50%. Both counties are the least Mormon counties in Utah. Salt Lake, because it is a metro area and still behaves less leftward than most metro areas. Summit County, because it is the home of million dollar plus homes around Park City, a favorite celebrity playground and a large Hispanic population which maintains them and cleans the hotel rooms when they are away. Whoppie!

Now, if you go to the heavily Mormon counties in the southern part of the state, Trump is in the 70% and 80% range. He would've done even better without the disruptive candidacy of Egg McMuffin who was fighting Hillary for a distant second place.

How scandalous! One of his nipples is exposed. Now, if that doesn’t prove that Mormons are not Christians, I don’t know what does! < / sarcasm >

I’m with you; I don’t recall any Moron protests against Obama. Must be the influence of Mike Lee - whom I used to really like...

I’ve oft times thought of merely posting a title called simply “MORMANS” and then wait for the hyena’s to come down from the hills.

'I love the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. The thought of this choir and Mormonism being forever associated with a man who disparages minorities, brags about his sexual control of women, encourages intolerance and traffics in hate speech and bullying, was unacceptable.

This, coming from a member of a cult that, until recently, taught that Negros were animals, collected multiple wives, would attack and kill "gentiles" and intimidate gentiles who might be in commercial competition with them, is the height of hypocrisy.

The Mormon church is a top down organization I am guessing that the president of the church is a Clinton supporter

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir consists of 360 persons, all of them Mormons, and so far only one member of the choir has dropped out in protest of Donald Trump. The headline sounds pretty ominous “Mormons launch petition trying to stop the Tabernacle Choir singing at Donald Trump’s inauguration,” but it is probably a very small number of Mormons doing this. This reminds me of all the hyperbole that resulted from a poll in October showing Trump and Clinton tied in Utah, after which Trump proceeded to trounce Clinton there on election day by about 18 points.

All church hierarchies are infested with pubic school- then university-indoctrinated proggies (theological universities are no different than secular, were especially targeted for leftist infiltration).

Choir leader is most likely a proggie.

Yeah, it is truly amazing how many of these idiots inflict this forum posting crap from their mommy's basement. They soooooooo remind me of the leftist bigots screaming "bigot!" at anyone who doesn't buy into their garbage.

What's got to hurt them the most, however, is seeing leading Chistians working with Mormons on common political causes even while they maintain a few theological differences. They are a fading group of jackals and hyenas who must now make up in volume what they lack in shrinking numbers.

This isn't about religeon. They happen to be a religious choir, but that is secondary. Put any group of 100 people together and you will find a Trump Deniar. That person (like with the Rockettes) makes the news headline, not the other 99 or so who think performing at an inauguration would be a personal life highlight.

Falling for the premise here is exactly what feeds the Fake News media. We cannot allow that SMALL PERCENTAGE of Trump Denuars a viable platform. If allowed, the that will be the norm. I don't want to hear their crap for 8 years. So laugh at them and ignore them.

For those here blasting the religion of the choir, what religeon are the Rockettes?

But this is the internet. Loud dissenters from any group obviously speak for all members of that group without exception. The outrage and hits must flow.
