In 2013, Tillerson successfully urged the Boy Scouts of America to allow gay scouts to participate. This was a matter of personal importance to Tillerson, an Eagle Scout and recent president of the BSA from 2010 to 2012. As reported in The Dallas Morning News, according to a close confidant, Tillerson’s opinion on the matter came as a result of personal prayer and reflection.
“He agonized over this,” the confidant said. “He prayed on it, and ultimately he came to the conclusion the only thing that can guide him here is what’s best for the young boys.”
It’s easy to forget, from the vantage point of 2016, that this was a divisive, bitter battle only three years ago; indeed, one of Tillerson’s chief opponents at the time was Texas Gov. Rick Perry, perhaps his future colleague in the Trump Cabinet.
That’s why Tony Perkins, the headline-seeking firebrand who heads the Family Research Council, blasted the Tillerson nomination from the right wing, accusing him of “risking the well-being of young boys under his charge in an attempt to placate radical homosexual activists.” It’s hard to know whether to take Perkins seriously; he is a longtime bomb-thrower with a penchant for outrageous hyperbole. Still, his opposition is, for progressives, encouraging.

You seem to be saying, they should have sold out, and they did indeed. I do not agree they had to, but that is just my own opinion. I was very proud to have been a boy scout, right up until that day. Then suddenly, I wasn’t nearly as proud as I had been.

Right. Accommodating the LGBT power may have been the only way to save the Scouts in the short run because of litigation. Probably all kinds of different state court decisions, injunctions, money judgments. Endless. It would have been over-whelming.
But it may be that the decision to allow gay troop masters dooms the Scouts just as certainly. They may have bought themselves a bit more time. But they did so at the cost of their moral integrity.
Such a poor trade is exactly the kind of mistake I would hope our Secretary of State would NOT make.
As a former Scout with a homosexual scoutmaster I have no tolerance for Gates and now have to take a dim view of T-Rex. However, it has been asserted that he won’t have much to do with domestic policy. Then also there’s not much more to achieve for the homosexual agenda than the damage Gates, Obama and Justice Kennedy (a Reagan appointee) have already wreaked upon us.
Basically what your are saying is the LGBT agenda controls the U.S., and anyone who disagrees should get out?

The congressional record shows that John Bingham, the main author of Section 1 of the 14th Amendment, had officially indicated the following about the fed’s constitutionally limited powers.
The feds cannot force the states to respect politically correct, vote-winning rights that the states have never amended the Constitution to expressly protect, such rights evidenced by the Bill of Rights and other rights amendments.

Evidently that makes Hillary a better choice, in your world. From what I have seen of Trump, he was not about to crawl in the weeds over gay marriage. It was not necessary.
Ah, thanks. I was heading for dinner and didn’t read the whole article. Well, I certainly disagree with that. No one has a “right” to be a scout leader. Scouts with problems, OK, maybe it will help straighten them out. But not scout leaders.
What confuses me is that Trump is pro life. Also, that there is only one God. Then, he says he is pro LGBTQ. He was doing real good until he said that.

I saw a gay rant that used the “LGBT” acronym, but it had about five more letters tagged on the end. Is the movement growing faster than folks can keep up with?

Good. I am glad you are here, so you can explain how Trump could get elected by proclaiming that transgenders don’t have rights.
This decision destroyed the Scouts.
Here are simple ways Trump’s appointee could stand up for LBGT rights in the West - end migration of Muslims to the West who think they have the right to kill homosexuals and push Muslim nations to adopt traditional human rights (not execute homosexuals, punish honor killing).
The scouts should disband—a crying shame, but the Girl Scouts have been ruined by planned parenthood lesbians, too.
