A German police officer is facing criminal proceedings after he allegedly branded Chancellor Angela Merkel “insane”.
The officer, from the western city of Solingen, could be fined three months’ wages if found guilty of slander.
He is said to have made the comments at an event held by the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party earlier this month. …

There is a lesson there on careless talk. Whether or not he was correct (is Kerkel insane or merely evil?), a prudent person in Germany would keep constantly aware of whether he was skirting or even crossing the lines on “criminal” speech. Freedom’s enemies penetrate groups where honest speech from the other side is likely to take place and then prosecute comments like this. The same is true in the United States. Even (especially) on FR, at the range, at protests against the Bureau of Land Management, and in Tea Party gatherings, we should never forget that ugly truth.
A freedom is to be exercised, not to be repressed.

Heil Hitler! As they say. Someone needs to stick a fork in Germany, they’re done as a country. I thought we were close to the line before this election, but unless the German people kick out Merkel and her henchmen, Germany will be a Muslim majority country in a decade, two tops.
