MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - Signs will soon be posted at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport with a warning that your current Minnesota driver’s license won’t be enough to pass through security in 2018.

Starting Jan. 22, 2018, you will need an alternate ID to fly if you have a standard driver’s license or ID card issued by any of the following states: Kentucky, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina or Washington. Alternate forms of ID include a passport, military ID, or permanent resident card. You can find a full list of accepted ID at https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/identification

So the Real ID Act, passed in 2005 in response to 9/11 and is finally finalized in 2018, 17 years after 9/11?

Here in Nevada, we have been told that we have to have the ‘REAL ID’ by 2020. Is there a different standard for different states?

I am planning on flying to Kansas—but the airport is in Missouri—in 2017, and flying back. Will I need a ‘real ID’ per this article, when I only have the (Not easy to get without proper ID) Nevada Driver’s license?

Ebenefits.gov is the VA web portal. If you have enough data to vet yourself you can download just about all the records of your military service. Once you get an account you can instantly download service letters. DD-214s can also be downloaded, but take up to a day for the request to go through. I have a reasonably recent (10 years old) recently record and can usually pull anything out of my record within 2 hours.

Thus the State of Wisconsin could require Minnesota drivers to carry a Federally accepted ID along with their DL to drive through Wisconsin.

Remember those wonderful days without long lines at airports when you could walk right out to the plane after showing your boarding pass. Those were the days when hardly anyone knew what this wonderful religion of peace called (i)slam was all about. Those days are over with and rest assured as time goes by it only will worse until an advanced and modern version of the FINAL and LAST CRUSADE will put a stop to all this crap. It may be a while down the road but it will come when people will get tired of putting up with it, just as people got tired of a crooked and corrupt administration which was getting us nowhere and this time voted for real change.

Mankind is destined to advance, progress and explore without being held back by a ball and a chain in form of some religious coblediguk which wants to take us back hundreds of years and the same goes for certain aspects of misguided socialism as well. Unless we concede to learn from history we are condemned to repeat it over and over until we learn from it.

The standard is useless if you don’t have control of your borders.

During a break-in in Florida, my raised-seal birth certificate & social security card were stolen. I know these ID documents are being used, since I occasionally get demand notices from the IRS demanding the taxes the illegal who is using my ID isn’t paying.

Once an illegal has this documentation, he can get a passport & driver’s license.

What makes a realID any better than what we were using?

Let’s use Florida as the example. I have a spare car registered & stored in Florida, using a friend’s address.

Once I have an address, I can obtain auto insurance in under an hour. I take the insurance to the tax collector & I’ll have plates in under an hour.

At that point, I have all of the additional documentation required for a Florida realID. But... I’m not a Florida resident.

For the rest of you... If you have to fly enough, it’s worth getting a Passport Card. The TSA does not question it.

They almost hand it like candy. Even the mexican matricula is accepted. Witnessed it myself recently when I registered one of my cars. The CA DMV is like DNC.

I have a California license. When Cali stared handing out licenses to illegals like candy, I was given a renew-by-mail.

I was sent a new “enhanced” license, which is supposed to be good enough for the TSA... for now.

I’ve done nothing to show the Cali DMV that I have the paperwork to be realID compliant.

First, 15 million illegals aren’t flying around the country

Second, do you honestly think that states like CA and cities like San Francisco give a hoot what IDs illegals have? Or that they will allow something like Real ID stop them from continuing to import illegals at the same rate.

For the most part it’s for us. You and me. Not the FN Mexicans and the rest of the disease ridden and pregnant central Americans streaming over the Rio Grande. Not the swarm of MS13 murdering animals taking over SW cities. And certainly not the middle easterners strolling over the border to join new terror cells.

Real ID is going to do nothing to stop this. But they will certainly be able to keep tabs on you.

PA didn't used to send families actual birth certificates - just certificates of registration showing that the state recorded the birth and had the birth certificate. The problems with that system showed up over the years, when floods and fires destroyed a lot of records - some people (including my cousin) had a difficult time getting their passport because there was no original birth certificate. That could be part of the reason PA declined to participate, back when we had a Republican house, senate, and governor. Who knows what will happen now with Gov Wolfe (D).

I think those are based on their state of residence, not the state the airport is in.
