In advance of taking office in January, Donald Trump's transition team has people surveying the Texas-Mexico border for places to build a wall. U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Laredo, says while some areas don't want the structure, they're being told to submit ideas anyway.

Click through to see images of the border being patrolled and the current security.

We've wanted the border enforced for 30+ years. Trump won. Feel free to step aside, Hank. Or, be a part of the process.

As much as I want the wall built, I do have one worry: if we build it north of the Rio Grande (which I assume we would), does this mean that we are de facto ceding the river to Mexico? How will we gain access to the water with the wall in place? Pipes? How will we keep Mexico from shutting off the pipes from “their” side of the wall?

Abbott has said he doesn't wan't a large wall pushing through Big Bend National Park, which abuts the border.

National Parks belong to the federal government. The states don't have much of a say about what is done in them. Big Bend is one of the few places where Trump can build his wall and not have to buy the land first.

It doesn't alter where the U.S./Mexico border is but a wall will shut off access to the river. How people will get water from the river probably hasn't been thought out yet.

There is a new invention to move water form rivers to the cattle.

You may want to spend your tax dollars for thousands of little water projects but I don't.

Call it a “handling surcharge” on cash wire transfers. My prison uses the same idea. A surcharge on phone usage pays for our tasers and tear gas. Talk away, fellas!

Would you build a boat and leave a big hole in the bottom?

The cattle can only drink directly from the river?

No, but that's where the water is.

I can't see the government engineering pumping and water storage infrastructure for every ranch along the Rio Grande.

some areas don't want the structure

Include a mini-mall with a Starbucks, an In-N-Out Burger, and free wi-fi. People love all those. Done and done.

Exactly. A US National Park should NOT be a “safe space” for an invasion of the United States.

Big Bend National park is among the most inhospitable places on North America. I seriously doubt they would need a wall there because there are no people, no infrastructure and both sides of the Rio Grande are lined with cliffs. The illegals have to walk 120 miles through a desert. That isn't an area where illegals cross.

You don't think that as they cut off the easier crossing points that people won't, by necessity, start using the more difficult ones?

“We need to start by putting troops on the border to supplement the border patrol.”

The Nat. Guard will love January/Feb on the border.

Don’t forget Arizona please. Easy build, the open land makes for an easy build and the ranchers will be grateful
