HARRISBURG - Thousands of emails land in their inboxes every day. Copies of the Federalist Papers and other books urging political courage are being mailed to their homes. They are even getting phone calls in the middle of the night.
On Monday, they will travel to the state Capitol to cast their votes to assign Pennsylvania's 20 electoral votes to Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence during what has, in the past, been a ceremonial and largely unnoticed event.
Not this year.
This time around, the electors will be greeted by organized protests, urging them to assign Pennsylvania's electoral votes to anyone but Trump.
One elector, Ash Khare, said he and each of the 19 others have been assigned a plainclothes state police trooper for protection.
"I'm a big boy," said Khare, an India-born engineer and a longtime Republican from Warren County, who estimates he receives 3,000 to 5,000 emails, letters, and phone calls a day from as far away as France, Germany, and Australia. "But this is stupid. Nobody is standing up and telling these people, 'Enough, knock it off.' "
Pennsylvania is not among those states that require its electors to vote for the candidate who won the state. This year, that was Trump, who became the first Republican presidential candidate to win Pennsylvania in nearly three decades.

Yes after Monday, I will rest a little easier.
I’m happy to read that they do have LEO protection. It is past time for none other than HRC to tell her supporters to knock it off, stop the calls, emails, threats against the R electors, or any electors. Those threats should be a federal offense that could send the perp to prison for at least 8 years, and forfeit their right ever to vote again. Maybe Congress can look at that in the new session. It is a serious violation of the electors’ civil rights.
Imagine if things were reverse and Hillary had won. These clowns sending all these emails would say all those sending emails are nuts.
Conservatives wouldn’t be sending such emails because most are educated enough to realize that the electoral college isn’t a new concept. It’s been around for a few years.
Yes, it should be made tantamount to trying to influence a witness in a court trial. States need to improve their election laws on many fronts.

Any violent threats to electors should be treated as domestic terrorism and insurrection. Those people who are identified as making such threats should be indicted, tried, convicted, and sentenced to prison, and hard labor, for decades.
I just love how these brand spanking new constitutional experts have concluded that the electoral college is not designed to protect the republic from mob rule. No, these dumb sh*ts believe it gives them another bite at the apple. A chance to substitute their superior wisdom for all the voters of their states. The problem is, there are NO standards for these electors. They could be just as easily be the guy at the drive thru who says “You want fries with that?” and no one can say a word.
The reason the standards are so low, is that it isn’t supposed to be a “thinking” position. It should be automatic & robotic in nature, pro forma in fact. A mere formality.
More of the living and breathing thing, I guess.
If these liberals don’t soon shut up with their threatening the electors, protesting against Trump, and blaming Russia for everything, I think we should start our own protesting and email writing campaign demanding that Trump LOCK HER UP!

I wonder if the crazies are going to try and blockade the entrance to the capitol to prevent the vote? I suppose real violence against electors who won’t change their votes is the next insane step some of the Democrats will try.
For the left, not being a liberal Democrat is treason. Watch them try to block Trump’s appointments because they don’t march in lock step with the liberal agenda. The divisiveness they complain of is their own creation.

Yeah, I don’t see them demanding we revert the fedgov to the level envisioned by the founders.
The entire democrat party needs to be in jail over this.
The PA Dem leadership actually has largely been level-headed about this. The Dem Secretary of State actively intervened against Stein’s recount request, as an example. It’s mostly the unhinged far left and the hard-core Clintonistas that are driving this bus ... straight for a cliff come Monday.
