Hillary Campaign ignored dire warnings from Michigan ground team, decided to day drink instead

The Hillary Clinton campaign repeatedly dismissed the concerns of its own operatives on the ground in Michigan, belittling their work and ignoring warnings that she might lose the state. Photo source: Politico

The staffers based at headquarters in Brooklyn, New York, explicitly ordered operatives in Michigan not to build a voter turnout tracking system, saying they didn’t care about those numbers because their own data showed her winning by 5 points. Perhaps more importantly, they dismissed in-person voter outreach efforts and distributing literature as a waste of time, and discouraged the collection of information from what contact volunteers did make with voters.

“Operatives watched packets of real-time voter information piled up in bins at the coordinated campaign headquarters. The sheets were updated only when they got ripped, or soaked with coffee. Existing packets with notes from the volunteers, including highlighting how much Trump inclination there was among some of the white male union members the Clinton campaign was sure would be with her, were tossed in the garbage,” Politico reports.

Clinton’s arrogant mindset apparently caused the campaign to miss key voter trends, such as the loss of white union members to Donald Trump in states such as Michigan and Pennsylvania. On the morning of Election Day, the campaign was so confident of a Clinton victory, staffers began drinking in the afternoon and making phone calls to potential transition team picks.

Around 1 p.m. on Election Day, an operative on the ground in Michigan called headquarters to warn them the voter turnout numbers they collected (in defiance of the orders to the contrary) were not looking good for Clinton. Turnout in urban precincts were down 25 percent, the operative told headquarters, and the campaign should possibly be worried.

“Nope, they were told,” Politico reports. “She was going to win by 5. All Brooklyn’s data said so.”

I came across this somewhere - can’t remember where - but I agree with it: the one guy who turned the election is the guy who took the video of Hilary’s collapse at the 9/11 ceremony. And that’s *not* because of the negative effect it had on the public’s perception of Hilary’s physical fitness for the office (that helped) but rather because it forced her minions to spring the “p*ssygrabbing” audio much earlier than they had hoped, just to get her health episodes off the news.

Recall previous October surprises, like Bush’s DUI arrest, or Casper Weinberger’s indictment - those are always sprung during the last full week of the campaign, so there’s minimum opportunity for the negative effect to dissipate. Imagine if that had happened this time - a shift of a few tens of thousands of votes in PA, WI and MI and we’re looking at a different election night. Instead, the Hilary camp had to fire their howitzer way earlier than they’d anticipated, and by the time election day rolled around, nobody much other than the hard-core feminists really gave a rip about the Trump comments.

I read they had a powerful AI program, nicknamed Ada, that predicted Trump’s victory several weeks out. They could not accept that and instead, ordered the algorithms be reworked.

Ha - very cool - sounds like a job for the “climate change” crew: computer model reality to correspond to one’s preconceptions!

One of the largely untold stories of this campaign is the effectiveness of the Trump data operation, established by his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and run by a bunch of amateurs, at least by political standards. In reality, it was a very lean and efficient operation, able to identify voters and micro-message them continuously.

And, they did it on a relative shoestring, compared to the fortune Hillary spent on her research and data operations. Remember the Romney data disaster in 2012? We were told the Democrats owned the political side of data mining/exploitation, and it would take the GOP years to catch up.

It was the data team that told Trump Michigan and Pennsylvania were in play and they quickly focused assets on both states. Yet, the Clinton team still believed Michigan was in the bag. Guess the voter fraud operation in Detroit needs a little work.

Clinton’s arrogant mindset apparently caused the campaign to miss key voter trends,

...

Maybe we should thank the corrupt media for boosting her arrogance.

I believe Trump’s last campaign stop was in Michigan after midnight.

Hillary may have well greased the palms, but they took the money and sat on their arses because they didn’t really like her enough to do the job right.

It sounds like they were confident that Trump could never overcome their corruption and voter fraud in urban areas. I find it entertaining to watch liberals getting bitch slapped by their own arrogance.

Of course that’s why she didn’t campaign in Michigan. She thought she had Detroit well in hand with the fraudulant votes. Another reason she was shocked that she lost Michigan.

I thought the audio had to be released early because of the impact of a particularly damaging group of wiki leaks. I recall Newt arguing at the time that the media was spending a 10 or 20 times more time on the audio than on the latest Wiki leaks. Maybe it was both. I agree that was the key because the Trump numbers took a dive and some RINO’s started having second thoughts. Trump had time to recover.

Never forget the audio is associated with the Bush family.

I think it is a bit more sophisticated than that. The “community organizers” could find themselves being replaced if they don’t bring the votes. “Community organizers” are a dime a dozen.

I wonder if they asked for more money and Hillary thought she couldn’t lose so she balked.

"It may have been what helped push PA over the edge to a red state.

It may have been what helped keep PA a red state this time, despite the typical Dem voter fraud that's made it appear to be a deep blue state for several decades.

There, fixed it fer ya.

There was doubtless more money in the till for incidental social expenses than for salaries, stipends or bonuses for hard workers.

My older brother, may he ret in peace, warned his partners that the woman they were choosing as CEO would not be good in that role. The partners disagreed and decided to hire her. Bro decided to retire early and sell his stock in the company. About 3 years later the company went belly up. He was the only one who got out of the deal financially ahead.

Exactly. The circumstances of Hillary losing paint a bleak picture of what happens if the Democrats run a more healthy, less arrogant, and more energetic candidate than HRC. Hillary was a bad candidate that almost won the election.
