J’accuse! May Allah look down in his mercy upon Aleppo — no help is coming from us
National Post (Toronto, Canada) ^ | Terry Glavin

Aleppo has fallen. The last and sturdiest bastion of the Syrian uprising is gone. The Battle of Aleppo is over, the revolution is finished, and the Syrian mass murderer Bashar al-Assad has won. Russia has won. Iran has won. Hezbollah has won. The United States has lost. The United Nations has lost, and the bloody war in Syria, already having taken nearly half a million lives, goes on.

Aleppo mattered, it should go without saying, but it’s worthwhile enumerating what did not matter. You can start with Aleppo’s 31,000 dead and proceed from there through each and every statutory war crime codified by the International Criminal Court.

Mass murder by chlorine gas. Massacres of innocents. Bombardments by Russian jet fighters. The deliberate targeting of hospitals and clinics. The firing of mortar rounds into crowded neighbourhoods. The terror of barrel bombs dropped from Syrian army helicopters. The starvation siege that followed the city’s encirclement by Shia death squads and Assadist militias on Sept. 8.

None of that mattered, not the hourly imagery on Instagram and YouTube and Twitter of corpse-strewn streets and decapitated infants, and not the gut-wrenching final goodbyes uploaded to mobile phones or sent by text from the survivors in the rebel-held ruins of the Old City, the al-Shaar district, and the backstreets of Sheikh Saeed.

Second, you must understand that this war was launched by the Turks, the Saudis, and the State Department, who have recruited jihadis from around the world to fight it, have armed them, trained them, financed them. The operation has been run by the Turks with our support. And it could end tomorrow.

Obama delayed it all on ISIS so as to give Russia time to come in.

The article is more McGrahamnesty anti-Assad drivel.

Aleppo has been liberated from Saudi-funded, Turkey-supported, neocon-covered jihadi terrorist mass murderers.

Their attempt to use Russia/Iran as a bogeyman in order to goad gullible Westerners into supporting Al-Qaeda terrorists is so transparent.

Bush set it on fire, Obama poured gas on it.

Thirdly, it makes some sense to remove Assad as part of a concerted effort to ramp up pressure against the ayatollahs in Iran. It would remove their only ally and their window to the Mediterranean.

But the whole thing was rendered incoherent when we decided to help Iran get a nuke. Yes, I know, they go on endlessly that the “treaty” is designed to prevent that from happening, but the agreement does the precise opposite of what it is sold as doing. It shields Iran from inspections, it shields Iran from interference by third parties (ie Israel) and it pays for it (ie the $150 billion).

So if you are going to let Iran have its nuke, it makes no sense to go after Assad. They have turned Aleppo into a bloodbath for no logical reason. And while there were possibly good reasons to remove Assad, by Obama’s incompetence and his lack of moral clarity, we have wound up on the wrong side of the “war on terror”. We switched sides.

The bottom line is that the West, led by Bush Jr. and then not led by Obama does not see this civil war as part of their vested interest. In short, nobody cares that Islamic nutjobs are slaughtering Islamic nutjobs. I would posit that actually, we in the West would like to see them kill each other off, for good.
The “swarm” of Muslims who have flooded Europe and the West are the vanguard to carry on Jihad. The West is just sitting by watching these Barbarians kill each other and reveling in it. Despite all the protestations of the UN and Western governments, they'd rather be sipping Latte and eating caviar at their lush parties while decrying the use of Chlorine gas on “innocents”.
The lessons of WWII have not been learned or applied because, the less Muslims on the planet, the better.

Not my circus.
Not my monkeys.

I agree, Jim Noble.
It’s obvious to me that Muslims love to kill each other. They are perfectly happy doing that until an outsider(the West) steps in, then they band together to stop the outsider. We’ve seen it time and time again.
Whenever the West, America in particular, steps in to bring peace to the Middle East between two Muslim sects, the outcome is more violence and a renewed hate for America.
Leave them alone. Support Israel, they will take care of their own borders and internal Muslim problem. Let the rest of the Muslims wage war against each other.

What is happening in Syria/Iraq is NOT akin to the mechanized death camps of WWII.

Both wars are horrible but so say what is happening in Syria is equivalent to the systematic slaughter on an industrial scale of human beings is not the same about what is happening on the ground in Syria/Iraq.

Crimes against humanity, yes, Concentration camps> No. Do not tar these two events with the same brush.

“...if you want our support you must protect every hair on the head of any Christians you find in your midst, for we are a Christian country.”

I like it, but didn’t Barry go around a while back telling the world we were NOT a Christian nation? Made my blood boil.

Twas Obama-Hillary who killed Gadaffi. Twas Obama who supported the regime change in Egypt. Twas Obama who opposed overthrow in Iran and gave them nuclear capabilities.

First, any chance that Americans as people would support this war died when our proxies started slaughtering Christians. The Turks may not care, the State Department may not care, but ordinary Americans simply will not abide this.

My sentiments exactly.

I would add, at the top of the list, Obama didn't care.

I keep saying this and believe it: This is a bit like watching the Soviets defeat the Nazis on the Russian front.

i.e. I’m cheering the victors this time, but I am no fan.

“It’s obvious to me that Muslims love to kill each other. They are perfectly happy doing that until an outsider(the West) steps in, then they band together to stop the outsider.”

But not for the West kissing their butts for oil, so much misery from Islam could be avoided. Opening up our energy producing power will allow us to tell them to pound sand (literally). Let them spend the rest of their time in this world hacking each other to bits over who is the most islamic.
