Just as I have the right to decide who gets to remain armed on my private property, the stadium owner also gets to determine who remains armed on their private property.

Public property ... that is an entirely different story.

Grimmy - you forgot the smiley emoticon...like this :-)

There's people here thinking a ref would be taken out, although for years, before gate checks, there were guns brought in to stadiums with no one the wiser.

Everyday folks conceal carry in cities, subways, and in crowds where there's all sorts of people who could use a bit of straitening up, but that's best left up to others.

I was simply stating my opinion that the entity owning the venue can set that policy and let the market decide.

Personally, I'd allow concealed carry...

Public property ... that is an entirely different story.

... and is why it is being addressed.

It would be nice if stadiums, supporting roads, and infrastructure was owned by these private team owners and weren't subsidized with public money, wouldn't it?

I am recalling a scene from a movie about a certain statue half buried in the sand and an astronaut finally figuring out where he’s at.

My own feelz, right now, are fair similar to what he expressed. Also, on the minus side, I don’t have a hot chick holding my horse for me while I temper my tantrum.

“Not Oakland”

I don't know where you got your information, but the Alameda County Coliseum Complex is owned by Alameda County. I just looked it up.

Conceal carry permit holders should be allowed to conceal carry everywhere in all states and territories except through metal detectors. This includes federali property and buildings, schools and school grounds, bars and clubs. We are the most law abiding citizens in the country.

I can’t stop thinking about someone shooting the pigskin on its way to the goal posts. Sorry. This is cracking me up.

If citizens can’t have the potential to defend themselves there, then the place would be ripe for an armed terrorist attack, I’d think.

I would feel a little safer in a stadium if I suspected strongly that there were people carrying in the stands. The moho with the evil black rifle would have those suspicions, too and might pick a different crowd to impress. Of course, the fellow with the bomb vest under his coat might not be deterred but so far we haven't seen that sort of approach in this country.
Actually, I stay out of stadia for the same reasons I stay out of malls. I would say the same for movie theaters, too, but I haven't been enticed by movies in quite a few years.

A private business should be able to set whatever attendance requirements it desires. That is my thought but then I remember that the 2nd us absolute. “Shall not be infringed” seems to cover all the bases.

Depends.

In Texas, yes, of course.

In Chicago [for instance]....not so much.

Call me discriminatory...but I think some places are just safer than others with having patrons carrying.

I don’t get the handwringing. Especially by people, such as FReepers, who should know better. Here’s the simple fact: people are already carrying at sporting events and it isn’t a problem.

Why are metal detectors any different? Here at our state capitol (VA), there are metal detectors. And if you have a permit, you can open or conceal carry.

“Shall not be infringed” applies to the government, not private entities...

Mix Chiefs fans, Raider fans, alcohol, and firearms and what could possibly go wrong?

Well considering the disagreements there’ve been between opposing team supporters in some cities it’s a bad idea. I feel that Seattle is more enlightened when it comes to sport teams and their supporters.
