Deport the criminals. Then there is no need to deport anyone else. Just make it a felony for any employer to hire an illegal alien punishable by mandatory jail time. And strictly enforce it. They will self-deport. Discretely and gradually, over time. Avoids bad press and unfavorable images.
The first step is to close the border.
Then we need to come up with a workable system so that decent, law- abiding Mexicans can at least get legal status in a timely manner so that this sense of hopeless desperation is taken out of the mix. As for those in this country, it’s going to be very complicated. That is a matter for the legislature to properly enact standards. People on all sides will be unhappy, but if we get control of the border and get more reasonable immigration standards, it will be a problem for only this one generation stuck in limbo.

Our uninvited guests have been clothed, fed, housed, and educated for free, at our expense. They have transfered billions of dollars of our wealth away from Americans by wiring earnings to Mexico. Our economy is missing hundreds of billions of dollars and thousands of jobs. Our childrens’ schools have had millions of dollars diverted from standard teaching for Mexican -ESOL classes plus remedial- babysitting-feeding services.
They can return to their homeland, catch-up with the extended family and apply for Visa’s.
There’s no limbo, the free ride courtesy of the Gringo taxpayers has expired.
They should be saying Thank-you very much. Instead, it’s mainly F_ _ _ you, we demand you take care of us.

Personally I think all illegals apprehended should be sentenced to some time in a desert tent prison before deportation. 30 days first offense. 6 months second offense. 2 years third time and a felony conviction.

How about...? Anyone who cane here illegally (and their children born here) gets no welfare, etc and can NEVER vote..unless they go home, get in line and gain citizenship legally!!!
I agree no welfare of ANY kind to the general illegal population. No school, no medical, no food stamps, no HUD, no employment - no nothing beyond the Church soup kitchen and what they can beg from citizens who think illegal acts should be rewarded.
The “Dreamers” can pick up trash on the side of the road (or whatever Citizens really don't want to do), if they want a few dollars for tuition.
Just watch how fast they will self-deport.

So you are not referring to the ones who came here legally-originally, and then just over-stayed and thus became illegals. That’s good.
Because they are either one or the other. They can’t be both even if they obey the rest of the laws.
They are legally here- right here and now, or
illegally here because they snuck in or over stayed their Visa.
