Rand Paul Explains Why John Bolton Should Be 'Nowhere Close' to the State Department
Townhall ^ | 12/11/2016 | Cortney O'Brien

Former Republican presidential candidate and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul has a strong opinion on John Bolton's candidacy to serve in Donald Trump's State Department. The former UN ambassador is being considered for the No. 2 spot in the agency, yet Paul argues that Bolton's endorsement of the Iraq War disqualifies him from working in the administration.

“John Bolton doesn’t get it. He still believes in regime change. He’s still a big cheerleader for the Iraq War,” Paul said. “John Bolton is so far out of it and has such a naive understanding of the world.”

Bolton should get "nowhere close" to the State Department, Paul concluded. He is preparing to block Bolton's nomination.

As for the top role in the agency, Trump is likely to tap Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson, who's facing his own opposition from lawmakers concerned about his business ties with Russia's Vladimir Putin.

Why is our side jumping on the “no WMs in Iraq” bandwagon? They were there. Our troops found them. A big bunch of it was known from satellite photos to have been convoyed out of the country. Many of the huge number of PTSD cases stem from their discovery and possible use. WMB being stumbled upon in Iraq is like Agent Orange in VN in the effects on our troops Bush thought he was avoiding a rush by the Iranians to grab off the WMD by keeping the discoveries secret. He was naive. Too many returned troops talk about bumping into WMD and radioactivity in Iraq. They are ignored by the press and by Conservatives, even. I have heard it from too many veterans. I am sure many of the rest of you have, too.

“Fact is, nobody even broached the so-called two American parent requirement on Free Republic until December 8, 2008 — over a month after Obama’s election.”

I find that very hard to believe.

Rand Paul is an asset in the Senate. Don’t seat his preferences for Trump’s hires. Trump’s judgment appears to better than anyone else’s on the scene and he will make the best choices and where he may miss on one he will quickly rectify. I do not second guess Trump. Since I first became aware of him as a political presence he has done and said many things that made me wince but those things have every one of them turned out to be the right thing to do or say for the situation at the time. Trump’s company will have the best staff to accomplish Trump’s goals and no one else will alter those goals.

Rand is right about this. If the current Republican majority decides to start another round of Iraq style nation building; we’ll end up with Democrat controlled House, Senate and White House - just as happened last time.

Listen Vulgar one. There are a number of small L libertarians here. Many who have voted for Trump, who has a nice wide stripe of libertarianism in him with regards to foreign policy.

I find that very hard to believe.

But it's true. Prior to 12/8/08, the only objection raised on Free Republic regarding Obama's status was concerned with his being born outside the USA -- in Canada or Kenya -- where Stanley Ann Dunham's relative youth would not have conferred American citizenship under the laws then prevailing.

Cynwoody researched the subject and the earliest posting found that challenged Obama's qualifications on the basis of a single citizen parent was on December 8, 2008. And this post was sourced to the Philadelphia Democrat lawyer who was involved in Hillary's campaign.

Which reminds me...

Trump needs to select people to run for Senate in 2018 - lots of dem seats up for grabs. Trump needs a stronger Senate team.

Geez, between CFR, Goldman Sachs and other global orgs, there's not much to choose from as far as "experienced" people. Who are some of the past and present members of this anti-American operation? Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell, Donald Rumsfeld, Porter Goss, Alan Greenspan, John Bolton, Paul Wolfowitz, Gen. Richard B. Myers, Henry Hyde, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, George Bush Sr., Sandra Day O’Connor, George Soros, Christopher Dodd, Diane Feinstein, Gerald Ford, Bill Frist, Newt Gingrich, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Katherine Harris, Teresa Heinz, Antonia Hernandez – President of Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Gen. John P. Jumper – current Air Force chief of staff, Joseph Lieberman, John McCain, Rupert Murdock, David Rockefeller, Diane Sawyer and Tony Snow. Carter, Clinton, Gingrich, Bolton, McCain are/were all part of CFR. The same CFR that wanted a North American Union? WTF
