Rand Paul threatens to block Bolton nomination

EXCERPT:

Sen. Rand Paul is threatening to block President-elect Donald Trump’s likely pick of John Bolton as the No. 2 in the State Department.

The Kentucky Republican, who serves on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, could stop the hawkish former ambassador to the United Nations from getting out of committee if there is unanimous Democratic resistance. The committee is narrowly divided among 10 Republicans and nine Democrats, and Paul said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that he’s an “automatic no on Bolton.”

If Trump nominates Bolton, Paul must sign on. Enough with the pipsqueak losers: Rubio, Graham, McCain, et al.

Rand Paul has never won anything but the senate seat he holds and he is doing a piss poor job in that. Who does he think he is second guessing the next President Donald Trump.

His time in the senate is based on daddies coat tails and he is serving on borrowed time.

It’s hard to believe anyone is still “a big cheerleader” for the Iraq war, but if Bolton really is, I’d need to hear his side of the story before dolling out the criticism. He never stuck me as someone who throws America’s weight around indiscriminately.

Personally I’ve always liked John Bolton. He seems to me a no-BS kind of guy that’s not to be fooled with. Exactly what is required to be part of the Trump administration.

Yep, Bolton looks and acts crazy. But it’s a good type of crazy. Secretary of state? I don’t think so.

I like Bolton but I did expect him to be a lot more like Trump than he was when he was Amb to UN

If looks are the criteria then I’ll take crazy-looking Bolton over punk-looking Rand Paul.

“the nutty acorn doesn’t fall far from the nutty tree.”

Meaningless comment. Did you listen to the interview?

If Bolton is for regime change as a policy everywhere (and maybe that includes Syria), then his position would be diametrically opposed to Trump’s, and much closer to Clinton’s.

Without the support of those of us who are for limited government, and those of us who are against the disastrous policy of foreign intervention that is helping to bankrupt the Republic, you would have been saying Madam President for the next 4 years.

*Bolton should get “nowhere close” to the State Department, Paul concluded*

Time to stop your mealy-mouthed whining, and time act like a man! Screw you Randy!

Rand Paul is the best “limited government” conservative I have seen. He sees what I see - Fed.gov and all its cronies and ideologues, building empires both at home, and abroad, based on printed money, repressed interest rates, and massive debt.

Imagine Rand Paul out of a job.

I’m with you on this...Rand Paul can make his comments but throwing his weight around is out of place. Trump won - and Trump has to choose people he wants to work with. Period.

“Who does he think he is second guessing the next President Donald Trump.”

I support Trump, but some of the support I see here and in other conservative forums borders on idolatry. Do you know what idolatry is (without looking it up)?

Keeping it simple: there are 3 branches of government. Paul is in the legislative branch. Trump will be executive branch. Paul’s job is to ask questions about executive branch nominees.

Bolton will be for whatever President Trump instructs him. Why is that so hard to grasp?
