U.S. President Barack Obama ordered intelligence agencies to review cyber attacks and foreign intervention into the 2016 election and deliver a report before he leaves office on Jan. 20, homeland security adviser Lisa Monaco said on Friday.
Monaco told reporters the results of the report would be shared with lawmakers and others.
"The president has directed the intelligence community to conduct a full review of what happened during the 2016 election process ... and to capture lessons learned from that and to report to a range of stakeholders, to include the Congress," Monaco said during an event hosted by the Christian Science Monitor.
Monaco said cyber attacks were not new but might have crossed a "new threshold" this year.
When she was working as a senior FBI official in 2008, she said, the agency alerted the presidential campaigns of then-Senator Obama and Republican Senator John McCain that China had infiltrated their respective systems.

So our government is concerned about foreign intervention into an election. Our government is concerned about foreign countries sticking their 2 cents worth in our government - but I guess it is OK when we stick our 2 cents worth in other countries - ex. Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Israel, UK, to mention a few . . . Is this being hypocritical?
Cause lawd knows this election could in no way be a repudiation of Obama’s failed policies, a toxic candidate, a detached platform and media bias.
If Trump’s team were smart they would make sure everyone spoke on the same page starting with tomorrow’s morning shows:
* “Obama is correct in his assertion that the Russians likely hacked Hillary’s illegal server. This was my overriding point during the entire campaign but no one would listen.”
* “Obama and Hillary both have played loose with cybersecurity which is why we are where we are today. I will appoint the best experts to correct their mistakes.”
* Votes can’t be hacked, they are never recorded on the internet. But email conversations can be. The reason they were hacked is because they are incompetent.
* “Russia would prefer Hillary, because she is an extension of Obama’s policies, which sadly have allowed Russia to take over several countries.”
* “The Trump administration will continue this investigation into what information was compromised from Hillary’s server.”
* “Russia didn’t sign NAFTA which destroyed jobs in the midwest. This is really why I won. Had Bill Clinton not signed NAFTA things would be so much different for the jobless folks in PA, OH, MI.”
* The other thing he needs to do is lay down the hammer on anyone GOP in Congress (Graham, McCain) for pushing this story line with committee hearings. Mcturtle should be able to help here.
