What was finally real was Edgar Welch, driving from North Carolina to Washington to rescue sexually abused children he believed were hidden in mysterious tunnels beneath a neighborhood pizza joint.

What was real was Welch — a father, former firefighter and sometime movie actor who was drawn to dark mysteries he found on the Internet — terrifying customers and workers with his assault rifle as he searched Comet Ping Pong, police said. He found no hidden children, no secret chambers, no evidence of a child sex ring run by the failed Democratic candidate for president of the United States, or by her campaign chief, or by the owner of the pizza place.

What was false were the rumors he had read, stories that crisscrossed the globe about a charming little pizza place that features ping-pong tables in its back room.

The story of Pizzagate is about what is fake and what is real. It’s a tale of a scandal that never was, and of a fear that has spread through channels that did not even exist until recently.

Clement Freud was a long time friend of the Podesta brothers. In the wikileaks emails, he invites them to stay at that house in Portugal. The Podestas were also longtime friends of convicted pedophile Jeffery Epstein (who hosted Bill Clinton at least 26 times on his "Lolita Island").

Another of the police sketches from the Madeline McCann kidnapping, looks a lot like Jeffery Epstein's "procuress", Ghislaine Maxwell.

Did anyone actually claim that? I didn't follow the issue very closely, but my recollection of the various (and competing claims) included the following:

1. Anthony Podesta and/or his brother (John) were involved in pedophilia.

2. The pedophilia might have involved some sort of vaguely-defined "sex trafficking."

3. Anthony Podesta and/or his brother (John) owned works of art that had vaguely pedophilic themes.

4. Many people in their circle were involved in "performance art" involving nude, life-like mannequins, on which were performed symbolic acts of sado-masochism, dismemberment, and necrophilia.

5. The pizza parlor was walled with erotic art.

6. Some people in the group were involved in a practice known as "spirit cooking," an alleged satanic or voodoo ritual.

To me, most of these allegations remain unproven. Item 4 is a virtual certainty, as I have seen undisputed photographs of a banquet at which such "art" was performed. It was a high-end affair, and celebrities were present. Claims that Hillary was directly involved in any of this were rare, if they occurred at all. Am I wrong?

A few weeks ago, someone posted photos of a high-end banquet in which the entertainment was "performance art" involving life-like, nude mannequins, ritualized stabbings and dismemberment of the mannequins, and disembodied mannequin heads placed at various intervals in the dining area. I believe some of the attendees were celebrities, and some had ties to this pizza place.

In some cases, the mannequins were so lifelike that I wasn't sure if they were actors or actresses.
