An adult sponsor for a West Texas high school cheer team has died and seven people were injured after a crash involving an 18-wheeler and a school bus carrying cheerleaders late Friday.
The incident occurred on Interstate 20 in Big Spring as the Iraan High School cheerleaders headed back to Iraan after a playoff game against Munday High School in Colorado City, about 40 miles east of the scene, YourBasin.com reports. The bus had about 120 miles left to reach Iraan, which is south of Big Spring.

At moments like this, scoffers scream about where was this Lord. If He was so caring and faithful, wouldn’t He keep a tragedy like this from happening?
This forgets that the Lord never promised a rose garden in the world. The Lord did promise to beat the world, and to help those who will accept salvation. I.e. no matter what cards the devil deals out, and he can deal some real doozies, God is always ahead of the game.
A fine lady that worked with kids died in this accident and children are injured.
Now is not the time to be sarcastic or think you can be funny.
Gallows-shock humor, so to speak.
TIME TO DEMAND SEAT BELTS BE MANDATORY ON SCHOOL BUSES! 2 bus crashes last 30 days in TN alone, more else were. 6 dead grade school, many injured. The other thank GOD was just injuries. We are seeing more as the drivers are not screened like they use to be.
God gives you a allotted amount of days, He does not promise how you leave this world will be easy for those you leave behind. HE does promise where you end up. Heaven or Hell. That is up to you to choose.
Prayers for all.
Thank you!
This happen 3 miles West of town at around the 175 mile marker on I-20. 18 wheeler lost control on wet roads and crossed the median and hit them head on. I’m amazed there was only one fatality. My wife works in the OR and they were immediately sent alert calls to respond due to the number of injuries. When these type of tragedies happen around the small funny named towns (Mr. Smart Arse would never understand the meaning or the history behind them) people come running to help in any way they can. Irran is a small ranching and oilfield community and the town my mother was born in back in the 20’s when it wasn’t much more than a tent city for oilfield workers. We’ll take care of them the best we can, folks from Big Spring, Midland and Odessa have already arranged for transportation and lodging for the families until the injured can be transferred or released to their families. I can assure you there were pilots heading to private airports from all 3 towns waiting for a call to help transport if needed, I know ours were. We pray for a 100 percent recover for the other 7 and that GOD comfort the hearts of the Pope family, they and the community suffered a great loss.
or not
You know, there’s a fine line between hallows humor and being captain of the jerk team.
I have kicked dirt and popped a bunch of brush on horse back. Great hard working salt of the Earth people.
They will come together as a community and get through this.
People from outside the area or those that have not been there do not understand the strength of the individual
God Bless
Oh, so that is what the new term for wise ass is now?
Which if the drivers was using his Mexican drivers lucense?
The truck driver. They’d better check him out completely. Learned driving at a young age on the Long Island expressway. Never saw bad driving wild maniacal bad truck driving like I did in San Antonio. Out of control.
Ira and Ann Yates donated the land where Iraan now sit’s. Iraan is also where V.T. Hamlin lived when he created the comic strip Alley Oop. I’m told that members of the Yates family also went into the oil business and drilled the first well in southeast New Mexico and turned them into the largest independent producers in the state.
Part of the gift of NAFTA.
