John Huntsman, a former American ambassador to China and Utah Republican governor, on Saturday suggested Trumps call to Taiwan and other such diplomatic outreaches should be expected, with Trump being perhaps the most unconventional presidential candidate of a generation.
We ought to be giving (Taiwan) a little more space, Huntsman said on Fox News, noting mutual economic, national security and human rights issues.
Arkansas GOP Sen. Tom Cotton said Friday: I commend President-elect Trump for his conversation with President Tsai Ing-wen, which reaffirms our commitment to the only democracy on Chinese soil. I have met with President Tsai twice and I'm confident she expressed to the president-elect the same desire for closer relations with the United States."

They’re all Mormon royalty. Inbreeding to be expected.
Yep—that Trump is considering him (if true) is troubling.
Mad Dog knows more about inter divisional rivalary,
Yeah, it wouldn’t hurt. I wouldn’t mind seeing more business types in the cabinet in non business positions (Treasury/Commerce). Clean up, pare down, shut down. But Cotton seems like a solid guy, so I’d be happy. I just worry we’d end up with a worse senator in his place.
No shortage of worse Senators, even just considering the RINO group...
LOL
I’m misanthropic for good reason.
Trump didn't make the call. Taiwan made the call. Is this Fox News getting it wrong, or did Huntsman actually say it was "Trump's call"?
Tom Cotton is AWESOME!!! He’s wasting his talent by being a Senator!!
Read up on Cotton....he is amazing.
Hillary, she fooled a lot of people... she projected the public persona of the “not Bill.” Someone who dug deeper would eventually find her even saying she was two-faced, on purpose.
My own sister in law, who voted for Donald Trump, said she admired Hillary, which really meant she was admiring Hillary’s public persona.
That is sloppy wording. That meant the telephone conversation, of course, and not speaking ill of it either. Donald attracts the right kind of attention.
Huntsman is a creep, an elitist, a RINO, and a Mormon in the same vein as Romney. He does know China well, though, so maybe DJT should assign him back to Taiwan or China again. SOS is too important for a one-trick pony whose only “trick” is China.
Cotton is a bright guy and has excellent training for the job. He might be better off in the senate for another term, tho...
AGREED
“Trump didn’t call Taiwan, the Prez of Taiwan called Trump.”.........
One MUST REMEMBER, the media is promoting that Trump made the call.
They are Mormons, part of the Mormon elite.
Hate to say this, but our best choice for SecState is John Bolton. He leans establishment, but his credentials and knowledge make him a good fit. What he would need from Trump is direction on how to clean up State and he could do it.
If you do not decimate the state department and rebuild it as your first and foremost priority, then it doesn’t matter who runs it. Both Clinton and Kerry thought state meant traveling the world, eating good food, meeting leaders and having photo opportunities. State is our policies for people entering this country, our representation outside the country and negotiating on how protecting America benefits their countries. Bolton could do that. Not sure who else can.
Trump should respond to this backlash by advising all the lefty snowflakes that, unlike Obama, he does not intend to seek their approval before he decides to discuss with others matters of mutual importance.
