Don’t forget, “Try it. You’ll like it.”

“Another use for Alka-Seltzer”
Feeding them to sea gulls so they blow up while flying?
Urban myth? Don’t know, never tried it, but it was a common story back in the 70’s.

No wonder I don’t understand the commercials - I didn’t know my need for closure. What the heck is that? I understand when one breaks up or divorces or dies but closure on a product? I don’t get it.

Mine was the infamous “Where’s the Beef?”

IIRC, that ad was pulled off the air because people complained it was offensive to Italian-Americans. So I guess PC is nothing new.

Only if they press-form his ashes and drop him into a glass of water.

I do vaguely remember some kerfuffle over the ad, but not that it was pulled. Long time ago.

“I can’t believe I ate that whole thing”

Okay, just assume I said the suggestive, sexist thing and save me the trouble.

I guess it's hard to find such actors as Milt Moss today that are capable of getting the target audience to feel the uncomfortable experience before using the product, and the beneficial comfort experienced after using the product.

So, they try to play mind games.

You’re right about that dufus part.
I, too, noticed that some years ago.

Then there was the Schiltz fiasco. They changed the product taste and had an off-putting ad campaign.

What’s the price? Forty-four twice.
What’s the reason? Drinkin’ Season.
What’s the reaction? Satisfaction.

My favorite was “That’s a spicy meatball!”.

Mine was "Try it! You'll like it!" (So I tried it.......thought I was gonna die)
