My father always told me that whilst JFK was morally lacking and made his career off his daddy’s money, he was at least a Patriot.

Yeah he was but totally incompent

Spoiled, elitist bubblehead who married a skirt-chasing son of a rum-runner. If that’s Camelot, I’m Morgana Le Fay.

One does not have to be a fan of JFK or Jackie, or a believer in myths to find their story fascinating. If the JFK/Jackie story had not happened, it would have made a great fictional movie. For those of us who saw this story unfold it was as if we were watching a real-life movie.

I agree with the post that "Camelot" makes a good myth for the JFK years because the "real" Camelot was rotten at its core as well. But like the JFK myth, the King Arthur one is an interesting story that is constantly being retold.

I dont get it - Natalie is such a poor / hack actress - she was deplorable (not the good kind) in the Star Wars series. Black swan was a miserable film, Im struggling tho think of one good role. V for Venetta...? meh.. what a crappy performance.

The Professional when she was 10 yo?. Ok that was OK. But pleeez - she is a hack. Way overrated.

I thought Jackie climbed over the trunk to help an SS agent INTO the limo as it was speeding off.

Jackie Kennedy slept around plenty on her own.

“She and Jack both loved gossip and could go on talking endlessly about other people’s sex lives, but I always got the distinct impression that she was very interested in sex the same way that Jack was very interested in sex”, Jackie’s close friend, writer Gore Vidal revealed in his memoirs.

‘It was a game for them, and they both played it’.

“I just read where she was walking around in a daze after they came into Parkland Hospital, and she walked up to one of the physicians and handed him something she had been walking around with.

It was a chunk of brain tissue she had clutched in her hand for about 15 minutes.”

A friend of mine was a corpsman in Korea. He told me several stories of people “salvaging” body parts.I guess the mind does not want to accept that what was part of them or a friend is now just dead flesh.

She wanted to just leave and feel safe. I think Onassis gave her and her children that. who really cares?

I think I can understand that.

I forget where I read it...it might have been “With the Old Breed - at Peleliu and Okinawa”, and in it, a guy who was shellshocked from a concussion or something saw a hand lying on the ground, and he picked it up and put it in his dungaree pocket...and forgot about it until he found it later.

Ugh. Can’t remember where I saw that anecdoete.

I never really had the interest in what she did sexually, and the only reason I paid any attention to what He did was because I thought it could have a direct effect on national security.

Put your teeth under the pillow, she handed part of the skull to the dr. And said will this help. Funniest thing I ever read about the assassination.

For those who remember exactly where they were when the news came in, some of these blood-soaked images retain the power to evoke astonishingly strong feelings of shock and grief

And for the rest of us, it evokes eye-rolling and a desire to tell these people to move on and stop living in some fantasy past.

Can’t we just let Camelot go? It never really existed anyway.

The Arthurian legend serves as a morality tale — the noblest of men undone by passion, jealousy, and misplaced trust. The Kennedy Camelot myth never addresses the weak spots at that corrupt Round Table. Its adherents never admit their plastic heroes had feet of clay. Theirs is a morality tale too, only without the morality.

This could well be true, but I have a hard time believing anything that Gore Vidal says. He often embellishes the truth when he isn't making up stuff out of whole cloth.

The cruel comment is that the Kennedy family sold her to the highest bidder.

He nearly blew the world up for partisan politics in the Cuban Missile Crisis which he created with bad decisions on missile deployments to Turkey and then had to go to the brink to save face politically.

That being said, compared to Democrat presidents since he was the best by far.
