Donald Trump’s win leaves Hispanics wondering if their influence has waned on issues
The Washington Times ^ | December 1, 2016 | Stephen Dinan

Hispanics, who for more than a decade insisted they were the key to American politics, are now grappling with a life on the outside — stunned that a Republican managed to capture the White House without winning at least a third of their support.

Immigrant rights advocates insist that Latinos did turn out in record numbers, and say they voted overwhelmingly for Hillary Clinton, doubting major media exit polls that showed President-elect Donald Trump captured some 29 percent nationally.

But that leaves another conundrum: If Republicans can win without Hispanic support, that could sap the negotiating power Latinos have claimed on issues such as immigration.

Blacks, Hispanic citizens and legal residents need to fish or cut bait.

It is time to end their self-segregation.

It is time to decide if they want to forever be members of a second class democrat victim group hoping for handouts from democrat politicians.

Or to give their hearts and minds to America, stop whining and start taking advantage of the opportunities that are there for all of them.

Instead of forever seeing themselves as hypenated-Americans they can retain their heritage and still become full-fledged Americans as so many other immigrants and their descendants have done.

I don't want them to like us.

I want them out of MY country.

There never was any “there” there. The “Latino” vote was always a bogeyman the Democrats and media scared gullible Republicans with. Now that the curtain has been pulled back as in the Wizard of Oz, Republicans can finally see the truth.

The problem the Mexicans face, is that any candidate which panders to them, will alienate the citizen vote. Trump was up among black voters, but it was mostly black males — the demographic most hurt by competition from illegal aliens.

“... stop whining...”

Michael Bennett (Seahawks football player) had a press conference yesterday. First thing he’s looking at his phone and quips “Nope - still didn’t vote for Trump.”

Then - when asked “How are you doing?” (reference to his injury) he says “Well, I’m a black man in America.”

And I replied “Yeah - and making millions of dollars for playing a friking GAME!”

Sometimes he is trying to be funny, sometimes he’s trying to make a statement - but he really needs to get over himself.

Excellent points!
Especially when, as the article points out, the left fails to acknowledge the number of votes Trump got from the Latino community.

That’s it. Go interview those immigrant’s rights advocates so we can hear what Hispanics think. What crap.

If President Trump stops all welfare and taxpayer funding for all illegals, they’ll have to leave the country. Squatters have no more right to invade our country than they do to invade our homes.

ITEM---Sap-Happy liberals like made dam sure they n-e-v-e-r run out of tax dollars to fund sanctuary cities, welfare and food stamps, education and healthcare, endless SS payments and EITC checks for these parasitic immigrants.

All of them on our soil illegally....money-guzzling creeps who never put a dime into the system.

ITEM---Sap-happy Liberals made dam sure there are on-the-book govt mandates that force struggling taxpayers to foot the bill for illegal refugees here to go back and forth between America and their supposedly hostile homelands on the taxpayers' dime.

<======================>

Isn't it strange (smirk)?

Sap-Happy liberals types are the first to whine they're running out of SS money for working Americans who put in money for years.....

The first to whine they're running out of pension money aging working Americans put in for years.

The first to whine they're running out of Medicare money aging working Americans put in for years.

On the contrary. It just proves that Hispanics actually use their heads and THINK about issues, and refuse to form a lemming-like monolith like certain other minorities.

The only influence these people should have is as Americans. Otherwise, get the heck out of this country.

This article seems to conflate “Hispanic” with “illegal immigrant”. No one here legally is getting deported unless they’re here under false pretenses (Syrian “refugees” I’m looking at you). No one here illegally should be voting in the first place, so there shouldn’t be any reason to expect that they would have any influence on a national election.

Dear “Hispanics.”

If you’re here, you’re Americans. Lose the hyphen.
