'Panic in Progressive Park' -- What If Trump Is Actually Good?
PJ Media ^ | December 1, 2016 | Roger L. Simon

If you thought Trump Derangement Syndrome was a tad excessive, as they say, you ain't seen nothin' yet. To channel an old Pacino flick, opening now for Oscar season, it's "Panic in Progressive Park."

Reason for the panic -- the dawning realization, repressed and often unrecognized though it may be, that Donald Trump may even a be a good president, possibly a great one.

Then what?

If anything could cause panic among liberals, progressives, and the media (apologies for the redundancy), that's it.

And Trump has certainly hit the ground running with more "vigah" -- this time to channel an old Kennedy phrase -- than we have seen in a long while. And not just because of the Carrier deal, though that clearly caught America's attention, as it should.

It also caught the attention of the media, which rushed to denigrate it -- and demonstrate their "profound knowledge" of deal-making -- by reminding us that Donald's agreement did not keep all the Carrier jobs in America, just most of them. And they actually had to bargain with the directors of Carrier -- imagine that!

For comic relief, the now completely ignored (as he should be) Bernie Sanders rushed to remind us of the same thing, as if anything of that sort (or any sort) could have been done under a Sanders presidency.

Indeed, Trump seems to be firing on all engines to a degree I have never seen in an American president, before he has even been inaugurated. His transition, once said to be confused, is rocketing along with a palpable sense of excitement that Trump and his team are deliberately sharing with the public, by-passing the media when necessary.

The Democrats, who have been floundering to an extent equally never before seen, are participating in a juvenile and over-priced recount while reelecting the terminally botoxed Nancy Pelosi to the House minority leadership even though that same chamber hemorrhaged Democrat members like a hemophilia victim under her rule. Topping that off, they're considering Keith Ellison to helm the DNC, a man who, according to a recent report, "met with a radical Muslim cleric who endorsed killing U.S. soldiers and with the president of a bank used to pay the families of Palestinian suicide bombers" on a trip to Saudi Arabia organized by an arm of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Talk about a party on a suicide run.

Meanwhile, the thing that Democrats, and many Republicans too, don't get about Trump is that Donald is an upper. He's a real optimist in a world of cynics. That's a yuuuge part of his attraction, as that should be, and the catalyst that helps him get things done. The reaction to Trump is something of a Rorschach test -- those who have a positive (even excited) view of the future tend to go for him. Those that don't, don't.

His victory speech in Cincinnati Thursday night -- and the reaction to it -- was an illustration of that. Watching the postmortem on Tucker Carlson's excellent new show (prediction: it will soon be outstripping The Kelly File, if it hasn't already), the optimistic Tucker himself was wildly positive about Trump's speech. His two guests -- Caitlin Huey-Burns of RealClearPolitics and Shelby Holliday of the Wall Street Journal -- were much more cautious in their somewhat fearful approaches. While obviously intelligent women, the conventional wisdom they imparted was pessimistic by nature and unwittingly a minor part of the swamp that Trump seeks to drain. Perhaps they sensed that.

Most of the media doesn't just sense it. They know it. They are at war with Trump and at this moment they are losing, badly. A wise person would change their tactics. But the media is not filled with wise people. These days they're filled with wounded, entitled people who seem already to have forgotten the rest of us have read WikiLeaks. We know who they are even if they don't know themselves.

Look for "Panic in Progressive Park" to run for a long time. It will, however, be more amusing than the original Pacino version.

He tried to claim Cruz was natural born. It’s perfectly understandable why he is upset. Look at what was taken out of conventional Republican thinking:

1) we need to let trade deals outsource all our jobs because we want cheap air conditioners

2) businesses want H1B’s. We want to do anything to lower business costs, no matter what

3) don’t mess with China no matter what they do (such as currency manipulation) because we want to have an influence

Cruz was in favor of all these things. Other republicans, such as McCain, Rubio and Jeb! also believe in amnesty and regime change/nation building

All of these ideas will be squashed by Trump. The nevertrumpers aren’t just upset because Trump said mean things.

Dubya was also assailable, so not a threat. Trump is quickly showing that he can’t be beat, and if they try they’ll end up the worse for it.

Dubya couldn’t fight back.

Nobody dared questioned the line “But at least he kept us safe” until Trump. Bush was quite weak before 9/11. He didn’t stop illegals, he allowed the 911 terrorists to come in legally. Yes, he built up our defense big time but those 2 major holes were always in place.

Perhaps he could have, but he wouldn’t do it effectively. If he were boxing, he’d follow the Marquis de Queensbury’s rules. If he were gun fighting, he’d wait until the other guy made the first move. He was an aristocrat, not a street fighter. So he was easy meat to the sharks, who stated circling the moment the war in Iraq went badly. Donald, I think, is a street fighter. He’ll knee the sumbitches in the groin and then head butt them as they bend over, and then take out a shiv.

It must really suck to be Mark and always be unhappy and angry. He’s losing listeners in droves. I’ve listened to him for many years but I think I’m done with him too after listening today for about a half hour.

He just really hates Trump and Trump is the only hope we have at the moment.

Mark Levin always has been and still is a “little man”, who is a legend in his own VERY LITTLE mind and one of THE stupidest, ego driven POS who should be completely ignored forever! His opinions are WORTHLESS and many just regular people are far more intelligent and better informed than he is.

Well said and so true. Why anyone would listen to his show is beyond me. In addition to all the things you said, Levin is shrill, bombastic and perpetually angry. I'd rather listen to nails on a chalkboard than listen to him.

It's hilarious that Trump has already saved jobs before he's even in office, and the media boasts that President Obama saved more. At this point in 2008, Kid Bam was still pacing outside the printer's office, waiting to make sure his President of the Office-Elect emblem came out alright.

Not to mention the flashback of Obama mocking Trump for saying he would keep Carrier in the US of A by working out a deal with them.....we're going from two Parties of "Can't do that because it just won't work" to a President of "Hell yes we can do that - if you ain't up to it, I'll find someone who is"....

And to me...people like those two have actually harmed the conservative movement, in my opinion.

Levin is a loud mouth shouter who appeals to the perpetually angry and depressed out there. In the wake of Trump’s victory, he seems even angrier than those on the Left. If you can get past the shouting and the hatred for Trump, he might occasionally make a good point about constitutional government but it’s not worth the effort. He’s such a downer.

On my drive home, I now have choice of Lou Dobbs and Tucker Carlson on the Sirius radio. Sorry Levin, you are no longer in the mix.

If Levin weren’t in his TV channel’s lineup I’d consider subscribing. We like Steyn and Malkin, but can no longer even tolerate Levin. It’s sad to see how, all of his own doing, he’s spiraled down to irrelevance over the past year.

Yes, he built up our defense big time

No, he did not.

If he raised an 80 division expeditionary force to conquer Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, you could say that.

If his Navy had ended with more than the 316 ships he started with, instead of the 281 he let it degenerate to, you could say that.

If he had abolished DACOWITS and permanently barred women from support roles in the near-combat and combat support environments, you could say that.

If he had not made the catastrophic decision to re-enact a Vietnam war in South Asia, you could say that.

Other than serving Thanksgiving turkey in Afghanistan and Baghdad (and do they celebrate Thanksgiving there now?), he was a net negative for our Armed Forces, and if you think he would have put Mad Dog Mattis in charge, you don't know him at all.

Trump doesn’t have to be good, he just has to do what all Presidents/Legislators should: Get and stay the hell out of the way of the American people and LET US THRIVE! BTW, Trump knows this....

I was just talking about Mark Levin to my wife yesterday.

We are/were both big fans, but he has become hard to listen to, with his negativity toward Trump. I had to turn the channel a couple of times, and now find myself avoiding his show.

How about some promoting some real beneficial reforms, an active agenda? It is time to get to work fixing things, while we have this historic opportunity.

Find a cause Mark. Exert some positive leadership on something worthwhile, that listeners can be enthused to get behind. Keep the negative criticism down to 10% - get your points on the record, and then get back to Making America Great Again.

Or at least target 90% of the bitter negativity on the Left.

Great Article...

Yes the press gets it, and "our" press does too. But it is a cultural change, they do not get his work ethic, and desire to impart a culture of excellence ( Demming, Six Sigma, etc ) too D.C. They may know what Six Sigma is, but frankly they haven't gone through the tough self examination of reinventing themselves the rest of have had to do in the last 20 to 30 years with their small business or where they worked because making real money is hard.

This cultural change is gonna be hard and DC and the Press that covers them. In fact part of this culture change is maybe the press is the buggy whip in the age of the automobile, and Trump doesn't need them. Perhaps that know that at some ethereal level and can't express it or get in touch with it.

Yes the Progs are scared that he might be a darn good POTUS. We all here saw that potential as well, and out of the box he has proved us right....

For the life of me, I can't understand how that guy even has a radio show. I have never heard anyone so grating and unpleasant on a regular basis. I stopped listening to him even when I agreed with almost everything he said -- which really ought to tell you something about his career prospects as a talk radio host.
