EXCLUSIVE: 'Marriage equality is vulnerable' under President-elect Trump says Harvey Milk's nephew

‘Marriage equality is vulnerable’ under Donald Trump’s presidency, says nephew of gay rights activist Harvey Milk.

Stuart Milk warned of ‘dark days ahead’ due to a rise in anti-gay rhetoric spurred on by the US election of Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence, who supports gay conversion therapy.

The nephew of Harvey Milk, who was the first openly gay person to be elected in public office in California and was assassinated 38 years ago, was speaking exclusively to the Standard on his disappointment that friend Hillary Clinton lost out to Trump.

He said: “It was very tough, but having been in central Europe and here when the Brexit vote happened in London, I was not surprised....

“I don’t think Trump cares personally one way or another about homosexual marriage, but he has promised to defend religious liberty.”

The problem with Obergefell, is that if in the unlikely event that it would be overturned by the Supreme Court, there would exist a number of same sex marriages that currently exist that could not be invalidated.

If those marriages could not be invalidated, it would establish unequal classes among same sex couples and that walks itself directly into a violation of the 14th Amendment.

Oh No!!

Not another “Rise In Rhetoric”. I just hate those nasty RIRs.

Whenever there is another outbreak of RIRs you just know that you are either going to have to take a break from MSNBC and CNN or go totally nuts. Not a problem for Freepers but a big problem for Weepers, all of whom voted for Her Highness and are still in recovery.

It’s a STATE’s issue.

You don’t obtain a FEDERAL marriage license.

You should not even need a ‘license’ at all... but I can see the health reasons behind it.

Marriage is a RELIGIOUS institution. Not a government one.

Why is “marriage equality” considered to be law of the land when one judge in one state declares it so, but “concealed carry” NOT considered law of the land under the same conditions?

Wow... I’ve always wondered what Harvey Milk’s nephew’s opinion was on this. Now I can sleep.

He needs to do what he can to protect states’ rights, the right to define marriage.

Yeah, once again they continue to perpetrate the “assassination” canard, just like the Matthew Shepherd case. Just keep repeating the lie over and over until people accept it. However, it’s still a lie.

Fed up of hearing marriage equality, if they wanted equality they would want polygamy . This is about those who want to define marriage, and change the country’s laws, by the way of accepting their perversion.

I agree 100%.

1. Marriage is between a man and a woman and for those of us who are religious, God.

2. The government should have no say in the matter.

3. Everyone has known what “marriage” is for thousands of years. Getting a court order to change the definition for political reasons isn’t fooling anyone, including those who campaigned for the new definition. They would like to convince you, me, and themselves that they are “married” but we all know they aren’t.

That's right, Stu.

No more fantasy homosexual "marriage".

The Defense of Marriage Act WILL be defended, the next time at bat.

MARRIAGE IS NONE OF THE FEDS CONSTITUTIONAL BUSINESS. GET THE UNCONSTITUTIONAL FEDS OUT OF OUR LIVES

Unlike the rights which the states have expressly constitutionally protected as evidenced by the Bill of Rights and the voting rights amendments, the so-called “right” to gay “marriage,” likewise for the so-called “right” to have an abortion, were wrongly established outside the framework of the Constitution by state sovereignty-ignoring activist justices, such “rights” based on stolen state powers.

So liberals had to fight tooth-and-nail to maintain an activist justice majority in order to keep those politically correct rights alive, that majority now threatened by Trump.
