On Thursday night (local time, as U.S. stations in Antarctica adhere to New Zealand time), the National Science Foundation agreed to provide medical evacuation from the South Pole for 86-year-old Buzz Aldrin, a former astronaut who in 1969 became one of the first people to walk on the moon.
The medical evacuation flight will be provided by the National Science Foundation, according to a news release on the government agencys website. The statement did not offer a reason for the evacuation, only referring to Aldrin as ailing.

Kerry just lost his point man, liaison to the aliens in Antarctica???
;-)
We met him in Houston at the MFAH museum. He spoke for while a while then we could meet him in person. He was fascinating. I hope he gets well. What a guy!
That was his nickname and he legally changed his name to Buzz. I don’t remember his real name.
I follow him on Twitter, and yes, he's very active. He's pretty entertaining, and I like that he spends a lot of time getting young folks interested in science and exploration. He's a real character too.
"He then took communion privately. At this time NASA was still fighting a lawsuit brought by atheist Madalyn Murray O'Hair (who had objected to the Apollo 8 crew reading from the Book of Genesis) demanding that their astronauts refrain from broadcasting religious activities while in space. As such, Aldrin chose to refrain from directly mentioning taking communion on the Moon. Aldrin was an elder at the Webster Presbyterian Church, and his communion kit was prepared by the pastor of the church, the Rev. Dean Woodruff. Aldrin described communion on the Moon and the involvement of his church and pastor in the October 1970 edition of Guideposts magazine and in his book Return to Earth. Webster Presbyterian possesses the chalice used on the Moon and commemorates the event each year on the Sunday closest to July 20.[30]"
Prayers for his health.
O’Hair, what a truly evil cretin. Hopefully she is receiving her just rewards in the hereafter.
No one, of course. He’s a spry 86 year old. :-)
LOL I guess I didn’t see that clearly!
but ..still...
