For Secretary of State: John Bolton
Washington Times ^ | Dec 01, 2016 | Cal Thomas

Posted on 11/30/2016 10:04:31 PM PST by george76

How about someone with experience as a diplomat, including within the State Department and as a former U.N. ambassador?

John Bolton, now a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and a regular commentator on cable news, does not engage in wishful thinking, or project American morals on those who don't share them in the vain hope they might be contagious. Here is Bolton on the threat of radical Islamic terrorism: "When you have a regime that would be happier in the afterlife than in this life, this is not a regime that is subject to classic theories of deterrence."

In his book "Surrendering is Not an Option: Defending America at the United Nations," Bolton is unrelenting in his criticism of the toothless UN and of many U.S. policies that have not produced results in America's best interests -- precisely the attitude of President-elect Trump, who wants to look out for America and its interests first. In this pursuit he is not unlike one of his predecessors, Ambassador Jeane Kirkpatrick, who said, "What takes place in the Security Council more closely resembles a mugging than either a political debate or an effort at problem-solving." It is a mugging, and too often it is the United States and Israel who get mugged.

Here's another Bolton quote: "Negotiation is not a policy. It's a technique. It's something you use when it's to your advantage, and something that you don't use when it's not to your advantage." That is the opposite of wishful thinking.

Dude.......... You are so 18th century. Don Called Putin and said looks like we have aligned goals. Here is my private number. Call me.

Calls were made. Bolton will be SOS. He will be sent in to “negotiate” with Putin. Erdogan got a handy earlier trying to get him to play nice. He got a second chance. No Go. Erdogan is Erdo GONE. Putin wants Assad. Who cares. Assad gets “trim” cause he is a dictator. Putin gets it from his looks as does Trump. Bibbi gets it cause well he is Bibbi.

Most of this bullshit is run by Soros and his minions. If I were George or his devil spawn or his evil empire and had even delivered a coke to them my ass would be puckered. It is done. Check mate.

Rudy’s the man!
Nothing against Bolton. Man, he can really blow: ‘How Am I Supposed To Live Without You’ and ‘When A Man Loves A Woman’.But he’s got his show biz career.
Giuliani is tough and smart, a New York pol.

Sarah Palin would be great. I would love to see her speaking abroad on a non-apology tour of the world.

Oh come on.... You don’t see Bolton as SOS with Farage as his primary spokesman? Farage flitting about whacking people in the balls as Bolton sits with Trump and Maneford strategicly planning next move?

I see it. Could be wrong but have not often been in this BEST ELECTION EVER!!

I’d be strongly in favor of Bolton - he seems like the best choice to me. I have no idea why Romney is even being considered, and as much as I like Guiliani, he has no foreign policy experience.

He would be my first choice. Just to watch the heads explode on CNN.

Bolton did a super job at the UN cesspool! He was absolutely HATED by the Democraps and refused to reconfirm his appointment. The President did a “RECESS APPOINTMENT” when the Senate was out of session.

Hey, say I’m 16th century if it means Bolton gets the job.

Sec of State is fourth in line presidential succession. It would be nice to have someone reasonably life-like like Rudy holding the job.
It would bring a lot of Italian-Americans.
And another reason to ditch Paul Ryno asap.

Rudy or Dana Rohrabacher. Bolton is neocon to the hilt and we don't need another minute of that crap running anything.

Let them all write articles for one another to read and slink around meetings at well heeled foundations that only pretend to give a damn about the American people while they try and build a globalist empire.

The worst of those who have been mentioned are Mitt Romney and Condi Rice.

Mitt would continue to be a snake in the grass.
And if he couldn’t stand up to Candy Crowley and Barack Obama how is he going to fare against the real hard cases of the world?

Condi was a horrible Secretary of State in her first try back in the G.W. Bush 2nd term.
I doubt she has improved.

I hope Trump stays away from both of them.

Is there an SOS voting poll here in FR? I think that would be really insightful

I agree. All things considered, Rudy is the best choice. As a top successor to President he’s the only candidate being mentioned who I would trust in that role. He has more foreign experience than most people realize and he will shake up the crooked State Department. Under him I expect some in the department will face jail time.
