It was colder than a banker’s heart.

It sure is cold today in the SF Bay Area!

Doesn't seem cold to me, compared to previous years. I used to play on softball teams on the peninsula. I remember playing softball games in Daly City when it was in the twenties, below freezing during the day. Iced over puddles in the ballpark, made for interesting games. If it gets into the twenties again, then I'll agree it's cold here in the SF Bay Area (usually never gets below 40 let alone 50).

Our temperatures have been 20 degrees above normal. I was wondering if we’d even get snow this year. Well, if it’s 20 degrees colder next week, I’ll let you know.

the hair growing over a horse’s hoofs. The longer the hair, the colder the winter coming.

Up here, if the first snowfall is high as a moose's ass, it's going to be some damn rough sleddin'.

I do not anticipate any massive comet strikes or clear cutting of rain forests, here, so we’re good, thanks.

The old Northern Ice Sheet took only 100 years to form - now we can watch as the next Ice Sheet begins - sadly, there are no Woolly Mammoths left to eat and keep us warm.

Beware Canadians fleeing south across the boarder and keep them away form the cheese!

Yup, nothing but a wood stove here and instinct took over for me this year. Just a feeling. I have twice as much cut and split as I did this time last year. I plan on doing more this week. We get ice storms around here or at least that's what they call them. Cold fronts from Canada clash with warm, moist air from the gulf and we're at the spot where they clash. Rain, temp drops and it freezes, repeat, repeat, some wet snow, repeat. Pretty soon everything is coated with 2-3" of ice. Trees snap, power lines snap. Can't hardly walk, never mind drive. Last one had people in a small/medium sized city stuck at home with no power for two weeks.

Kinda beyond using an ice scraper LOL.

The weather sites aren’t saying this, exactly.

But still, I’ll buy a ton of rice coal and all will be well.

Thanks Anthracite !

Here in MA, it’s just about December, and I’ve still got a few straggling roses blooming. A frosty blast is overdue.

I've got to find an indoor spot with a little sunlight for a front porch pot of miniature roses that started blooming like mad when the weather began to cool down.

Holy cow! Did you take that picture?

We get ice, but rarely anything like that!

No, aside from driving through a town several years back, that had 2 inches of ice on the side roads, I haven’t had the pleasure of experiencing one of these things yet but with our little ice age coming, I expect I’ll see it in the next few years. I just searched duckduckgo images for “Missouri ice storm”.

I was like in the first year of my current job.

Worked 2pm until midnight.

My 16 mile drive home took me 3 hours.

That was early Friday morning.

The plows didn’t come until 4pm on Sunday.
