Democrats, of late, have taken to citing Hillary Clinton's historically large popular vote victory in the presidential race over Donald Trump as evidence that the country is still fundamentally on their side.
Judging by recent election results -- even before Clinton's stunning loss three weeks ago -- that's simply not true. Republicans not only control both the U.S. Senate and House but find themselves at or near historic highs in terms of governorships and state legislative control.
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack got it exactly right then when he told The Washington Post's Greg Jaffe that the current state of the Democratic party is like a tree that "looks healthy on the outside but is in the throes of slow and long-term demise.

Comments at WaPo are also interesting. The rats are abandoning the Democrat Titanic.
not "We, the blacks", or "We, the Hispanics" or "We, the Gays"....
Never was it more evident than Hillary's final "racist" rallies.
Ya know , to just use the “republican” moniker is just too big a brush...Mass. Gov. Baker and Ohiop Gov. Kasinich (kasick?) they are supposedly republicans...so all is not what it seems
2016 map was better than we could have ever imagined.
BUT Dhimmytards are ALWAYS “lying to themselves”
Democrats think racking up the vote total in California means anything to the other 49 states.
Remove just one state, Mexifornia, and that popular vote victory disappears!
The democrat comments are hilarious and very revealing. They’re truly mad at their own party for supporting illegals and for not supporting Voter ID’s.
You’re exactly right. Their strategy was to tease apart American’s cultural mainstream fabric into isolated victim groups (identity politics) with the hope of cobbling enough of them together to win the election. Real Americans sniffed it out because it caused so much visceral discomfort, and was antithetical to the credo of “E Pluribus Unum.” They rolled the dice and lost everything, and likely for many years to come.
I love how they are all bewildered. Whu hoppened? It’s a big mystery, eh? ;)
Wow, you aren’t kidding. There are some “come to Jesus” moments ppl there.
The biggest problem with libs is that they believe their own bullsh*t. No matter how many facts or evidence you dump in their laps.....they believe their nonsense polls, surveys. They believe that how things ought to be is how things actually are, despite results.
They are a scary bunch.
President Obama, Democrat politicians and the mainstream media are still calling Trump KKK. Theyre tarring his team as anti-Semites and racists. The electoral map would stop any normal politicians in their tracks, but Democrat hate speech is only getting louder and more hysterical. A major course correction is not going to happen for three reasons:
1. Democrat leadership;
2. Democrat donors;
3. Democrat voting blocks.
There is no force in the party that wants to change.
Democrats dont debate Trump on the issues, because their agenda is a turn-off. Under the leadership of Alinskyite Barack Obama, the Democratic Party has degenerated from liberalism to progressivism.
It has not been pretty.
<><> democrat focus on preferential treatment for blacks has given way to a war on cops.
<><> Democrats "caring" about Hispanic Americans suddenly means America shouldnt have borders and should have sanctuary for rapists and killers -- as long as they are here illegally.
<><>Browbeating college kids by empowerring feminists and black activists with Title IX money has turned college campuses against freedom of thought and speech.
<><> Womens issues have bizarrely turned into a war on masculinity. Gay rights has morphed into men in womens bathrooms.
<><> Pro-choice turned into third-trimester infanticide, selling baby body parts, and lawsuits against the Little Sisters of the Poor.
<><> Physical violence against Republicans is encouraged by President Obama and Clinton under the euphemism protest.
Democrat progressive politics is weird and ugly and dangerous, and people across the country have recoiled from it.
As Marc Thiessen says with his usual eloquence, You can drive some 3,000 miles across the entire continental United States from sea to shining sea without driving through a single county that voted for Hillary Clinton. (Excerpt) Read more at americanthinker.com ...
