I hope that Syria’s Russian ally bombs the tanks and personnel that Turkey’s Islamist Erdogan has sent into Syrian sovereign territory.

And no, NATO is under no obligation to come to Turkey’s defense following Turkey’s illegal intervention.

Maybe Putin should invade eastern Turkey and restore the ancient homelands of the Armenians and the Kurds?

Nato doesn’t get dragged in because a nato member launches a war, only if they are attacked.

This will not end well for the addle brained goon Erdogan. In fact, given the players on Assad’s side of this mess, Erdogan may be looking at a long dirt nap in the near future.

NATO acts like a dog collar on Erdogan, if he were to be booted out of NATO for starting a limited war with the Russians, he could do what ever he wants.

With Turkey attacking Syria, Russia then is forced to attack Turkish forces. Turkey, a member of Nato then calls for Nato Article 5 (?) to have Nato comes to its aid and voila! WW4!

Or not. You think Germany, France and Britain will do anything but protest? You think they would really like a war with Russia over who sells them natural gas? Trump has already stated he wants better relations with Russia and has questioned the further purpose of NATO. If Turkey pushes this, it means the end of NATO as the alliance will not live up to its treaty obligations to Turkey in this fight.

Another chess move by Grand Master Vladimir Putin.

i might find this interesting if it was being reported by any other source except rt.com, the official propaganda organ of the Russian government.

1. Yes, Assad is a tyrant.
2. Yes, Assad supports terrorists.
3. Yes, Assad has killed not just thousands of Syrians, but probably many hundreds of thousands.

No, all of that does not justify toppling Assad’s government unless we have a way of making things better there, which Turkey cannot do.

Bad idea.

Real bad idea, Erdogan.

If true, this will get out of hand.

Add to your list that Assad PROTECTED Christians and other religious minorities. This is in sharp contrast with many Muslim countries.

Agreed. Assad is a bad person, but he is not all bad. If replaced, the outcome would be far worse.

Erdogan is flat out lying. He plainly stated that Turkish forces first entered Syria to establish a buffer zone along their border.

The Bush administration almost expanded the war into Syria because Jihadists were operating there and have camps and carried out attacks from there on coalition forces. That is history, now, supposedly, ISIS is being fought but it is a mix. Russian prop would say they fight all terrorists now. Assad has been a big buyer of ISIS petrol; look it up; just stating facts.
