Trump Will Not Appoint Romney

On November 27, 2016 Kellyanne Conway questioned Romney’s loyalty to Trump, and questioned Romney’s judgment because of his attacks on Trump. She said that Romney lost states in 2012 that Trump won, and questioned what has Romney done since 2012 to warrant an important position such as Secretary of State. Ms. Conway stuck the knife in, twisted it, all with a smile on her face.

*snip*

After Ms. Conway’s takedown of Romney, all deserved, I cannot see Trump appointing Romney as Secretary of State. Romney did not merely criticize Trump’s polices, he viciously attacked Trump personally. There is not much difference in the personal attacks between Romney’s personal attacks and Hillary and Obama’s personal attack against Trump during the campaign.

Conway is a close advisor to Trump. She ran a brilliant campaign, and it seems she was sent out to knock down Romney. I cannot believe she would have said all this without Trump’s approval. This public humiliation of Romney is payback.

I think it was a press burying of the hatchet.

I don’t believe he had a moment’s consideration of giving Romney anything; for obvious reasons of Mitt’s cartoonish and childish behavior during this year’s campaign.

However a Republican elect refusing to meet its previous nominee would have caused more headlines than are worthwhile during a transition.

Easier to say “Yeah, great, thanks for coming. We’ll let you know.”

Mitt Romney is getting a LOT more respect than he has
earned from TRUMP. Maybe he can be an ambassador to some
place nice and just shut his piehole. - Romney went OVER
THE TOP in his verbal attacks on TRUMP given that it
seemed to be all the “thanks” TRUMP got from Romney in a
“no good deed goes unpunished” fit of backstabbing from
Mitt. :o(

Virtually all Trump loyalists have been trashing Romney relentlessly in the media, so it’s clear that Trump is making no attempt to squelch them. I have to believe they’re all on the same page, including Trump. This is Trump exacting his revenge.

Good! Glad Kellyanne has (seemingly) put the kibosh on this McRomeny nonsense.

Romney is The Snake who would bite Trump in return for his kindness towards him. I can see Romney calling a press conference to denounce Trump for something Romney didn’t like. He would then announce that he is resigning as Sec of State in protest. Paul Ryan and others would immediately support Romney and join in the onslaught, designed to derail the Trump administration.

Why did he even bring him in for talks ?

Those that know Trump says he is an excellent listener. He seeks out the opinion of others. Surely he wanted the full measure of the man - Romney.

And it bought favor from others that Trump would meet with him. By continuing to bring in other potential candidates for the position, Trump is showing that the choice for SOS is important and that he has not made a decision yet.

The real question: Why does Romney want to serve in a Trump administration? Has anybody asked him?

Let's not forget - Romney not only dissed Trump, but he and his aides tried their best to destroy Sarah Palin's political future.

They are the ones who reported the false rumors that Sarah spent $150,000 on her wardrobe.

They are the ones who set Sarah up with the despicable Katie Couric interview and refused to allow Sarah to tape the thing, permitting Couric to edit and make Sarah look foolish.

They are the ones who leaked the rumor that Sarah thought Africa was a "country."

They are Nicole Wallace, Steve Schmidt and others, many of whom now work for MSNBC.

Go to hell, Mitt Romney - and take your vicious snake agents with you.

Advice to FReepers: Stop listening to the media.

They have no idea what is going on transition-wise, yet are flapping their gums non-stop in an effort to demoralize Trump supporters.
