If I learned anything from Obummo is that liberals double down even while Rome is burning.

But I think they’ve finally met their match in Trump who doesn’t look like the kind of weak-kneed repuke who backs down.

I wonder about statements like that; I’ve heard the same for my state of NJ, but as the illegals pile up here I wonder if their costs (often subsidized by federal wealth transfers) are included in the calculation. Like CA, we are losing jobs and American taxpayers while trafficking hordes of illegals here just to prevent ghost towns from appearing. At some point the costs of these largely unemployable people on the dole must reach a tipping point.

Sounds good, but in basic financial terms CA would be better off. They pay more in federal taxes than they get back in federal spending.

I have seen this. I suspect it is a lying with statistics thing. They have a large population that pays lots of Social Security and Medicare taxes.

Lots of retirees leave the state for lower tax environments elsewhere.

If Governor Brown refuses to sign an affidavit cutting off state funding to sanctuary cities then it will be necessary to cut off all federal funding to the state—money is fungible.

Sure helps also show how stupid secession would be for California as well. If big cities can’t make it along without federal funds, think about the entire state. Are these people high on something?

Let’s help them along by cutting off all federal money and let them fund themselves.

CA is a net contributor to the federal government.

If funds are withheld from California because San Francisco and others are self declared Sanctuary cities, then one must conclude that the state has been purged from the union.

Secession is achieved by the desire to be sanctuary for all comers.

Yes, they do. I wonder if tarrifs at their ports are considered California taxes paid to the Federal government.

“They also have a lot of highly-paid people and sucessful business that pay lots of taxes.”

Who will relocate once the SHTF anyway.

Californication is playing russian roulette with a semi-auto. I hope they’ll do the smart thing and start complying with Federal law. But I think they’ll do the stupid thing and double down. And probably choose Calexit as well.

You just can’t fix leftist, globalist, and stupid.

An easy fix is to staff an ICE office in every sanctuary city. When an arresting officer arrests an illegal they are turned over to ICE. The local officer washes thier hands and ICE takes over.

I’m not a fan of expanding federal government law enforcement, but these socialist always demand more government, we should give them more government.

You know I keep hearing this but not so sure it is true. Don’t doubt it is true for social program spending vs taxes. But wonder what the total would be if you factor in military, highway, grants for colleges (both research and student), contracts to CA businesses, federal grants to law enforcement.

It’s choosing to not follow federal law that will cause the cash shortage....not the withholding of funds intended in part to pay for enforcement of said federal law.

Indeed, Trump should not only deny the funds intended to pay for such enforcement... he should also claw back the funds that have been provided during the time the sanctuary cities chose to not enforce federal law.
