The Golden Gate Bridge Is Starting To Show Its Age

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — The Golden Gate Bridge is in need of some love and its corrosion in causing concerns.

While the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge regularly gets a paint job to prevent rust, the Golden Gate Bridge doesn’t receive the same attention.

The Caltrans bridge painters hunkered down on a wooden platform, suspended mid-air are painting and re-painting the western span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.

The original plan for the bridge was for the 'bridge district' stay in business until the bridge was paid for than the bridge was to become the property/responsibility of 'CalTrans'. But the 'Bridge district' voted themselves jobs forever and went on a spending spree that continues to this day. And now we find out the money is gone and the bridge is in need of repair....guessing another toll increase is due since the $7 per vehicle is not enough for the bureaucrats to waste. Heads should roll...but you and I both know that will not happen.

I thought they NEVER stopped painting the GG Bridge. At least that’s how it used to be. They start at one end and paint to the other, and then go back to the beginning and start over.

I fully expect them to paint the thing pink one day. Maybe then they will take care of it.

Or paint it in the “rainbow” colors, in honor of homosexuality, as San Francisco is the homosexual capital of America.

The new Bay Bridge was prefabricated in China.

Is that what the author wants to do here?

After being stationed in Japan for several years, my folks and I sailed back to the US and under the Golden Gate Bridge into Oakland. The ship we sailed on was the MSTS General W. A. Mann. The trip took two weeks to cross...

That was my understanding too. Maybe the city or state is just looking for a reason to raise taxes again.

It won’t matter if they exit, unless you happen to be traveling abroad when it rusts out.

Right? After they leave the US, they can repair and paint it any color they want.

Michael Savage was taking about this the other day. Said the potholes were bug enough to swallow a Volkswagen.

Since California is going to secede, let it fall into the bay...

California needs to pay their share of the national debt before they leave...

They never did stop back when California actually had a functional government.

Now corruption and massive entitlement fraud has become a fiscal black hole that drains all funds that used to be allocated to the productive projects that was once quaintly considered to be the function Government.

A guy offered to sell the GGB to me last time I was in SF.
I'm glad I didn't buy it.
