Anti-Trump secessionists filed formal paperwork Monday launching their petition drive aimed at separating California from the union by first putting the issue before voters on the 2018 ballot.

A petition submitted by the Yes California Independence Campaign calls for repealing language in the state constitution that describes California as an “inseparable part” of the nation and holding a vote on independence on March 13, 2019.

What is needed is a Zorro to cast out the evil coastal cities and secure the future for the red central areas.

If they try to go through with it I recommend an advance in two columns. The first, down I10 to LA, give it the Atlanta 1864 treatment and head north up US101 to SF and raise it to the ground too. The second, - down I40 and I15 to CA58, North up CA99 to Sacto and explain the operable definition of “treason” to the state legislature. After they all sign a loyalty oath we can let them vote in national elections and hold office again.

Think about this; these are the same people who want an open border with Mexico and all 120 million Mexicans should be allowed vote,, so what they are really saying with succession is California should be annexed by Mexico.

Even if they could, what about the 45.8% of land in CA “owned” by the federal government? Good luck kicking the marines out.

Hey, you want to show me in the US Constitution the part that makes secession illegal? So how many Americans should die for you because you want CA to stay in the Union? 500,000 1,000,00?

I don’t think it’ll happen. But if it did and history is a guide, the eastern and northern parts of the state would in turn secede from the Californication republic. All 55 electoral seats would be lost to the remaining loyalist states. Then there are the water issues and the intellectual property to think about. I can’t see the loyalist states cutting them a break.

Overpopulated, stoned, waterless, and without any way to make money is not a good way to start a country.

Can I sign that petition????? I know I live in the not-so-great state of NY, but I fully support the complete separation of Cali from the United States. I mean, it hasn’t really been part of American for decades, so why not make it official?

What do you suggest we do with the Californian's in the military? Do you suggest the nation kick them out, or are you under the impression Californian's care less for their home than you do yours, and would love to leave their homes, friends, and family to join you in your state? The following two paragraphs will address 2015 GNP figures: LINK

There are 24 states West of the Mississippi River (WOTMR). California has the top GNP of those 24 states, at 2,448,467 Trillion dollars. It takes four of the next highest GNP (WOTMR) states to beat it. It takes 19 of the lowest states (WOTMR) to beat it. California accounts for 31.6% of the GNP (WOTMR). The next highest state (WOTMR) accounts for 21.1% of the GNP (WOTMR). The next highest state (WOTMR) accounts for 6.0% of the GNP (WOTMR).

California's GNP equals 13.7% of the whole U.S. GNP.

Globally, California has the sixth highest GNP, trailing only the United States, China, Japan, Germany and the United Kingdom. LINK

California has it's problems. There's no denying it. Those problems were exacerbated by White Flight. California exists in the state it does today, in no small measure because decent people decided to abandon it to the Left. Right this very moment California is 1,746,648 Conservative families shy of bringing the state back to a break even point. Leftists aren't the only folks who can vote with their feet folks. California is a great state, but you couldn't expect it to stay on an even keel with decent folks leaving like they have. If you don't like what California is like today, come back and fight for it with the Conservatives who didn't give up on it. LINK

I will never abandon this state to the Leftists. It's too vital an asset to the nation.

What happens when we cast it off and the citizens of the former state set up alliances with China or Russia? What do we do when China has naval ports where ours used to be? What happens when they amass bases and a troop presence here?

If California leaves, so will other states. As those states leave the U.S. GNP sinks, and it's ability to maintain a world class military will diminish.

What you and other folks don't realize, is that you are doing the bidding of our worst global enemies.

Without firing a single shot, you will have neutered the U.S. for them.

Pretty soon our national map would look like Swiss Cheese and foreign powers would have troops in all the holes that used to be U.S. soil. Thanks but no thanks.

Um the argument that the 30 million Californians could not make a viable country is ludicrous. We have Lichtenstein but CA can’t ? I mean there are so many examples. The bugger eating morons in the middle east can form their own country but somehow CA is incapable? You are being really stupid, why? Come on you can be against CA secession but THEY COULD EASILY BE THEIR OWN COUNTRY. Even Rhode Island could do it.

If California secedes and you blood thirsty unionists want to make a go of it I will go to California and fight for them. Just on general principles. My feeling is the big talking Unionistas are a tiny minority who are all talk and no action. Pussies.

The country is critically divided. Coasts against the middle, it seems. Or maybe big cities against everybody else. I honestly don’t know what could bring this nation back together again. Maybe if there was a way to have a “no-fault divorce” separating the leftist-dominated areas from everywhere else, it would be better for everybody. I don’t know if that’s possible though.
