Theranos and David Boies Cut Legal Ties

Litigator David Boies and the law firm he founded, Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP, have stopped doing legal work for Theranos Inc. after disagreeing about the strategy for handling ongoing government investigations of the blood-testing company, according to people familiar with the matter.

Mr. Boies, 75 years old, has been one of the country’s best-known litigators since the late 1990s. He became Theranos’s outside counsel after being approached in 2011 by two investors in the Palo Alto, Calif., startup. He fiercely defended Theranos against questions about its technology and operations.

Those efforts included threatening to take legal action against The Wall Street Journal during the months before it published in October 2015 its first article detailing problems at Theranos.

An amazing story of rank incompetence and no business model on ethics.

This girl is too intelligent to be so dangerously stupid. Every conclusion about the failures of this company lead right back to her control over the conditions and causes of the failures.

I THINK a huge part of her psychosis is having her ‘vision’ verified on a constant basis. She wants to drop out, she drops out. She wants to basically start up a company that is a health based startup (despite not having a background in medicine and of course, being a dropout), her family and family friends back her up. She started getting a TON of praise and her other psychotic antics, like grafting Steve Jobs’ personality traits and way of dress onto herself and basically reworked her entire sense of self, only to have it reinforced by everyone around her.

I would say she’s a highly intelligent psychopath with her delusions reinforced around her all the time.

It's also an amazing story of journalism at it's best. If the rest of the American media covered the Obama administration and the Clinton Foundation the way the Journal covered Theranos than the media wouldn't be facing the crisis they currently face.

I haven't been reading every article about Theranos, but the few I've read made Elizabeth Holmes sound very "Clintonish". I scrolled back thru the FR articles and discovered, among others...

"Emails: Clinton Campaign Dismissed Concerns Over Embattled Theranos CEO"

I should've known the woman would be associated with Hillary. Birds of a feather.

Excellent point.

The journalist I read weeks and weeks ago, stripped this Theranos storied opera bare, deeply engaging this reader in the human interest angle and the strategies employed for saving a crooked lab performance. Name dropping and glitz obscured the hole in the barn door big enough to drive a truck through.
