Electoral College voters 'deluged' with death threats

One of Michigan’s 16 electors who will be called upon to cast a vote validating the election of Donald Trump in the Electoral College has testified on video that he and others in the state are receiving “dozens and dozens of death threats” from Hillary Clinton supporters urging them to switch his vote to Clinton.

The Detroit News verified one message containing a death wish and another containing a death threat, in which the person told Banerian he would “put a bullet” in his mouth. Banerian said he deleted the rest of the emails and messages “because as you can imagine they’re clogging up my email.”

An online petition on Change.org signed by more than 4.3 million people is calling on the nation’s 538 electors to vote for Clinton instead of Trump.

I do think the FBI will end up investigating and prosecuting. I did see a show where a woman trashed the car of an FBI agent and ended up getting fifteen years and I do believe it is a capital crime to try to kill a federal agent. The voters of the Electoral College (I think) are Federal workers and as such, the FBI will get in on this for good.

What I’m seeing isn’t just a mass protest but a mass nervous breakdown. These people are resorting to anything to keep reality away. I do not put anything past them.

I pray the college voters remain strong — and protected. But unfortunately this is only the tip of the iceberg.

I don’t like to wish ill on Mrs. Clinton, but if this kind of evil continues, I do wish her & hers an early death.

Could Trump transition team provide an ex officio reporting option? They could maintain a report of the complaint AND pass it along to the FBI or other appropriate authorities. Once in official power they could promise to follow up on what had been done. Reluctant authorities might be more likely to investigate given such complaint routing as absent a successful coup they'd be held accountable. I don't know if such falls within the power or even the capability of the transition team, but we learned from 2000 election that campaigns have budgets and rights dealing with legal challenges which perhaps could be impressed to make sure these illegal challenges are handled lawfully. Beyond establishing a formal transition method, even a tweet from Trump that any and all such nonsense would be dealt with harshly ASAP might stop some of it.

Everyone of these threats needs to be investigated and the perps brought to justice. How much time in federal prison for threatening to kill an elected official?
