DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A Montgomery County courtroom fell silent as a 93-year-old woman faced her rapist Wednesday morning.
The victim took the podium, looking directly at her rapist, Jean Paul Mpurnwa and said,”I’m glad this day has come so he can’t do it to someone else.”
The defense argued Mpurnwa is mentally ill and suffers from schizophrenia. His attorney, Vic Hodge said at the time of the rape his client was suffering from his illness and was not on medication.
Hodge told the judge that Mpurnwa and his family escaped from Rwanda and witnessed terrible, traumatic events.
“I would suggest his mental illness play a role in the commission of this offense,” said defense attorney, who describes Mpurnwa as detached.
Prosecutors argued no doctor supported that theory and Mpurnwa knows rape is wrong.
Mpurnwa was sentenced to 11 years on rape and kidnapping charges (the judge merged the two charges) and two years for felonious assault. He served three years in jail while the case played out in court, that time will be credited to Mpurnwa’s sentence. In total, he’s expected to serve 10 years.
He is not eligible for early release on the rape/kidnapping charge. He will also likely be deported reportedly to Africa after serving his time.
Mpurnwa is originally from Rwanda and had a translator explain what was happening throughout his sentencing.
He was found guilty of kidnapping, felonious assault and rape earlier this month.
The incident happened in 2013 near a bike path in Dayton.
Ten years? Really? WTF?
In that case, he should be locked up not only for this crime but to prevent his committing others.
Deport his ass...back to mother africa.

In 10 years, he will only be worse. The prison system will not help him. If he is truly mentally ill, so much so that he rapes a 90 year old woman, IDK if he can be helped.
I won’t be 90 in 10 years, but I hope whoever he confronts at that time will be properly armed.
Is there someplace we can put money on the books of his cellmate to make sure his last few years on Earth are exponentially worse than what that poor woman had to endure?

Serious crimes used to be punished seriously. Now they are not. That has to change.
I don’t disagree. However, even though minority males make up a disparate amount of violent criminal behavior, the true life impacting crimes, they will get a pass.
If people only knew just how bad it is...how many violent criminals are walking around on probation, getting suspended imposition of sentence on armed robberies, walking it down and still being able to legally buy a firearm and walk around with it openly...only to commit more violent crimes.
Of all the crime metrics of interracial crime, black on white rape of elderly white women has the highest hate ratio of them all. At least a hundred to one.
Rapes of elderly black women by white thugs are almost nonexstent whereas elderly white women raped by black men number in the many hundreds.
Why is this?
Because the rape of an elderly woman is always a hate crime and the race hatred of whites by blacks is virulent,violent, and widespread
You would think. But they will say that he is ok when he is on his medication, give him a packet of pills and send him out again.
There are people who are mentally ill and, as long as they take their meds, they are functional. But the medicines either have side effects that make taking them unpleasant or they think they are cured and stop or they actually like being crazy.
In all cases the law says there is nothing we can do to force them to take their medication.
It is, pardon the term, totally insane.

Who the hell cares? Many many many Jews witnessed and were victims of terrible traumatic events and they didn’t go around raping senior citizens-
