Sen. Barbara Boxer to introduce bill to end Electoral College

Retiring Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer, who was an outspoken supporter of Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election, is set to introduce a Senate bill that aims to end the Electoral College.

Boxer announced in a statement on Tuesday that the bill, which she planned to introduce later Tuesday afternoon, would determine the winner of presidential elections by the outcome of the popular vote.

She cited President-elect Donald Trump's victory in the Electoral College despite Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton's apparent popular vote advantage.

Trump now praises Electoral College, says he could have won popular vote

"In my lifetime, I have seen two elections where the winner of the general election did not win the popular vote," Boxer said in a statement. "The Electoral College is an outdated, undemocratic system that does not reflect our modern society, and it needs to change immediately. Every American should be guaranteed that their vote counts."

This is one of the most useless wastes of oxygen on the planet. Never having done a single day's work of honest labor, never having had an original thought, and trumpeting useless and doomed ideas solely for the attention factor.

Disgusting.

Babs and 3/4 of the dimwits need to be introduced to either a gangplank and or water boarding.

Ah California...

There are about 5 cities (not including DC) whose local politics are trying their darndest to run this entire country into the ground, in this order:

LA
SF
Chicago
Boston
Minneapolis

The manufacturing regulations and academic mandates alone coming out of California are stagnating the rest of our country immensely. It is bad enough that the rest of us have to deal with this meddling into our daily lives.

Now this. If by some odd chance it did pass, it would end up litigated. Any litigation over trying to overthrow the EC would be turned down. It is part of the fabric of our Constitution so that the aforementioned places do not decide the president....hard as they may try.

I thank God for giving our Founders that wisdom.

The only way the deranged Hillary could have received more popular votes was thru voter fraud, Boxer knows this. It is time that we recognize that the Dems are criminals and will sink to any depths to win.

So the pea brain from the state that holds the most power by far in the electoral college, thinks it is unfair and outdated. Okay fine. We need to declare that a significant percentage of the population in Kalifornia is illegal and shrink it’s 55 to 35.

This would require a Constitutional Amendment. It would get wide support in CA, NY and IL but nothing, zero, zilch anywhere else.

Gee, Babs. Article I of the Constitution is an outdated, undemocratic system that does not reflect our modern society. Go find a job a Hardees' that you are underqualified for. Maybe someone will pay you what you are worth...

Barbara Box-car and her evil twin Diane Fein-swine are two prime examples of why we need term limits in the House and Senate. As are McLame, Graham and a few others.

Let’s hope this is one of Mr. Trump’s campaign promises that gets fulfilled, and soon!

“”I have seen two elections where the winner of the general election did not win the popular vote””

And those wouldn’t have happened to be losses for the dems, would they? Get lost, Boxer. We have put up with you long enough.

Exactly. It's rather unconstitutional to amend the Constitution with a congressional bill. Perhaps she needs a remedial civics course.

Get to work on that Constitutional Amendment Babs, and get back to us when you have secured two-thirds of the State legislature's approval.

Memo to Ms. Boxer:

You can't just introduce a routine bill to end the Electoral College. Since the Electoral College procedures currently in place are specified in the Constitution (specifically the Twelfth Amendment), you must introduce a Constitutional amendment.

Since a Constitutional amendment would require a 2/3 approval vote in the Senate and a 2/3 approval vote in the House, followed by approval in 38 state legislatures, seems that you are intentionally doing an "end run" around the Constitutional amendment procedure.

BTW, there have been many attempts in Congress down through the years to eliminate the Electoral College. All have failed, and yours will surely meet the same fate.
