Ted Cruz visits the new President-Elect in Trump Tower
The Houston Chronicle ^ | November 15, 2016 | Kevin Diaz

Texas U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz joined the procession of Republican figures from Washington making the journey to Trump Tower in New York Tuesday to meet with President-Elect Donald Trump, his chief antagonist in the GOP primaries earlier this year.

Trump did not stop to talk to reporters staking out the elevator lobby on his way in. But his spokeswoman, Catherine Frazier, released the following statement:

"Sen. Cruz is pleased to have the opportunity to meet with President-elect Trump in New York today. The American people issued a clear mandate to 'drain the swamp' in Washington, repeal Obamacare and start over with cost-effective, patient-centered health care reform, appoint constitutionalist judges to the Supreme Court, secure our southern border and enforce immigration laws, and enact policies that will create more good-paying jobs for the American people. On behalf of the 27 million Texans he represents, the senator looks forward to assisting the Trump Administration in achieving these objectives..."

Trump had him campaigning with Pence in WI and IA at the end, both states in which Cruz had beaten Trump. Team Trump apparently thought he might help there. I like the end results, but won’t try to allocate any credit for them.

Cruz was such a weasel. Lyin’ Ted. The convention. Too many negative feelings toward Cruz. I would have a hard time with him on Supreme Court.

All those things you are feeling may be justified, but feelings don’t matter much on the Supreme Court. You probably don’t feel those specific things toward John Roberts, but he sucks. So I’d rather have a weasel that doesn’t suck, as long as he is a true blue conservative. Cheers.

I heard Hillary won out for that position.

In seriousness, I think it’s Ted for SC. It’s mighty big of the President-Elect. It’s also terrific for our country, even if Ted is a bit of a weasel.

Like I said bury the hatchet. Campaigns over. Things were said and done, fine. More important now to keep beating Dems and keep on winning, and if Cruz is going to do that then I’m onboard.

I think Donald can handle Ted just fine. He’s the dealmaker.

We also know that Donald does not have infinite patience, and will eventually drop a party who refuses to be rehabbed.

Everybody’s clamoring for a place in the sun now... the Donald sun.

It's amazing to see all the folks who tried to derail the Trump train trying to get on board now that Trump has won.

Beck, Cruz, Ryan, and others... Where were they six months ago when Trump could have used their support? Did any of them campaign for him?

I don't see any loyalty from them whatsoever. Just opportunism.
