Indeed. And it should be stopped early in the new administration.
there should be no warning. just yank the fuding and listen to the squeals.
let the lawsuits come. once there is a lawsuit, there can be no resolution while the suit is being litigated.by the time discovery starts the city will be broke and dead
by the time it gets to the sCOTUs, well the cities lose
Wow! These California Liberals are becoming big advocates for States Rights!
Next thing you know they will be naming streets in Watts and South Central LA for George Wallace, Orval E. Faubus and Lester Maddox!
One word.. BOUNTY!
I’m sure there will be pressure for these agencies to cooperate, and Donald and his advisors will be very clever about it too.
What I wish these folks who are talking about charges of obstruction of justice and the like would do, is point out any precedent or other mainstream Constitutional analysis for it.
We don’t have a situation as simple as “Washington makes everybody’s laws.” Though I am sure there are many leftists who wish we did (at least when Washington was under the control of the left). States were expected to make their own laws for their own good.
The Federal government is a joint creation of the states, intended to look after their enumerated collective interests.
I do not believe Constitutional authors ever considered a possibility like this, where a state would invite long term suicide by invasion, augmented by parasitism of subsidies — which did not even exist in Constitutional days. That would have been regarded as insane. It is similar to why there was no provision for secession.
I don’t disagree with the goal, but ask questions about the means. I want to see the means be Constitutional to minimize the number of Pandora’s boxes opened. Imputing duties inherent to deputization to non-deputized agents would not be Constitutional, IMHO.

now that is a fantastic thought, a true free enterprise solution to the criminal problem
That might not be the worst thing to happen to the USA. Politics makes strange bedfellows.
But this kind of independence clearly should underscore the principle “You’re on your own if you don’t want Uncle Sam in your local business.” Let them stagger under the weight of suddenly un-subsidized, uninvited foreigners.
Actually, not a bad idea
Then do the same thing to them that Kennedy and Johnson did to Faubus and Wallace: send in National Guard troops to enforce the law. And arrest the conspirators for dereliction of duty.
>>there was no provision for secession.

It was understood that they could drop out at any time because there was no federal provision to restrain them. The powers of the federal gov’t were few and defined....until Lincoln came along and usurped the retained power of secession from the States.
I haven’t seen the burkas. I’m sure they’re more prevalent in some areas than others.
Thanks....ugh. Mayor in office 2 more years before next election right?
El Cajon California.
Okay. I hadn’t heard that. Thanks for the mention.
I’ll bet folks down there are thrilled.
You start getting into the more sparsely populated areas, and they aren’t as liberal as the big metropolis areas.
wanna bet?
Doesn’t the funding come from the governor?
