Priebus defends Trump pick: 'That's not the Steve Bannon I know'
The Hill ^ | November 14, 2016 | JESSIE HELLMANN

Posted on 11/14/2016 5:04:21 AM PST by maggief

Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus on Monday defended Donald Trump's decision to appoint Steve Bannon as his chief strategist and senior counselor.

Pundits and politicians have slammed the decision to hire Bannon, the former head of Brietbart News, labeling him as anti-Semitic, racist and misogynistic. "The guy I know is a guy that isn't any of those things," Priebus said on NBC's "Today" show Monday.

He added that Bannon is "very, very smart, very temperate, and together we've been able to manage a lot of the decision making in regard to the campaign, along with Kellyanne [Conway] and it's worked very well."

Priebus carried the same line of defense to Fox News's "Fox & Friends," where he described Bannon, who also served as Trump's campaign CEO, as a "wise and smart" person.

On ABC's "Good Morning America," Priebus dismissed critics who have called Bannon a "white supremacist."

"First of all, I don't know where they're coming from. That's not the Steve Bannon I know. I've sat with him for months. I have never, one time, experienced that," Priebus said.

"You have to look at the person. I think you have to get to know the person... I find him not to be the way he's being accused. I find him to be the opposite, and I think people need to give people time and give people an opportunity and not make judgments. Don't make judgments based on what other people say."

I’m confused about motivations here. The media does not gain any ground by impugning the integrity of a man. They’d be catering only to the rabid leftists who follow them. It would be very easy in this day and age to provide proof of antisemitism or misogyny, but they don’t. Are we to just take them at their word?

50 years ago, before the Internet was even an idea in someone’s mind, the media was considered honest and provided proof to backup everything they said. Nowadays the media is seemingly corrupt to the core and does nothing more than castigate those who oppose their views while the opposition, in this case conservatives, bend over backwards to provide facts about every last talking point.

I just don’t get it.

And keep Priebus off the air if he can’t stop being a mealy-mouthed apologist.

They seem to have found a target they can pick on already. His pathetic weak responses as GOP head the last few years show he should never be in front of a camera.

I am not sure if Trump made a deal to hire him in return for his support, or if I should just trust Trumps judgement. He dumped Christie pretty darn fast.

I don’t want Priebus to take the role of wormtongue.

Priebus’ mistake is in addressing these ridiculous “charges” at all. It’s nothing more than the same tired sack of lies the Left has said about every single Republican since, oh I don’t know, the beginning of time? These people have one tune and they will continue to play it, but FGS can we all stop dancing to it for a change?!?

Two points:

A) Stop apologizing—We won.

B) Stop giving the media credibility by apologizing.

Didn’t Trump hire Priebus, who said Trump would not become POTUS, to be his chief of staff?

How many other GOP-Es is he going to hire?

So as I understand it, some white supremacist and anti-semite bigot, (I forget his name) is known for coining the term alt-right.

Steve Bannon used the term alt-right on his radio show and suddenly he’s an anti-Semitic, racist, bigoted, Klan leader.

I slept on white sheets last night and once drove across the Robert K Byrd memorial bridge.

The new angle is anyone not wearing a safety pin is a bigot, racist etc. I have already seen teachers wearing the safety pin. With this definition, half the country falls in this category. It keeps the low info voter involved in going against Trump in big numbers.

I was a photographer in College to help pay my way. Because of that I associated with aspiring “Journalists”. They were not really journalists and their professors did not teach them to be journalists. They were taught how to spin a story to say what they wanted and make it sound like journalism. Even when I was in college in the 60’s the professors were liberals, many even radical.

There is nothing to get. The so called journalists of today are radical liberals with access to the means of broadcasting their “stories”. Journalists of today care nothing about the truth, they don't need to back up anything. To the journalists there is only an objective and story telling is their way of achieving their objective of making us all in their image. To them there is no need of freedom or personal decision making, they want smart people “read them” to make all our decisions for us, they after all know best.

Once as an engineer calling on a factory in Ohio I met with another engineer, he was from China. He seemed to be a nice guy and we got along well together. I learned a lot about China from him. Sometime after we became acquainted he told me his wife was coming to live with him from China. I offered to take them to dinner. While at dinner, through her husband translating, I asked her what she thought of the U.S. She hated it, it was so scary. She went to the store the other day to purchase shoes for her daughter. There were hundreds of pairs of shoes to choose from and nobody from government to help her. When she got here the two of them had to find a larger apartment, she exclaimed that nobody from the government helped them do that, they had to do it all on their own, it was scary. What if they made a mistake?

This is what liberal people think life should be for us idiots who live in fly over country. We are just too stupid to make decisions for ourselves.

Go Trump! Drain The Swamp!

This is to be expected. The butt-hurt liberals will object to anything and everything Trump does.

Get used to it libs. We’ve been telling you for years this was coming. It’s here. Feel free to leave if your delicate dispositions can’t handle it.

GO TRUMP!!

defended Donald Trump's decision to appoint Steve Bannon as his chief strategist and senior counselor.

Nothing to defend. Bannon is the choice and a good choice at that.
